SUMMARY

  • These films, unfortunately did not work all too well with audiences.
  • Of course, there was more potential in the story which in 2022, resulted in the release a TV series called Reacher.
  • It would seem that despite its popularity, the show was not able to match the success of the Fool Me Once and Percy Jackson and the Olympians TV series.

Tom Cruise’s projects, in recent times, have not been as successful as those at the height of his career. Though he was recently nominated for an Academy Award for his 2022 film, Top Gun: Maverick, his most recent movie, Mission: Impossible- Dead Reckoning Part One, left its audience severely underwhelmed.

It would seem that this extends to adaptations of his past projects as the recent, Reacher series has not been able to compete well with other shows. With just having released its second season, the show falls behind two other shows when it comes to their online engagement.

Tom Cruise Franchise’s Adaptation

Tom Cruise came out with Jack Reacher in 2012, which was based on books of the same name by author, Lee Child. This film was closely followed by a sequel in 2016 due to the popularity of the first crime-thriller film. Unfortunately, Jack Reacher: Never Go Back was unable to maintain the same amount of attention as its first part, resulting in an underwhelming response by the audience and the film not being followed with a third part.

It would seem, however, that it was understood that there was more potential in the story as in 2022, a series called Reacher was released, adapting the books yet again. The decision to do this was a wise one, considering the series received immense critical acclaim, starting actors like Alan Ritchson, and Willa Fitzgerald.

Reacher Was Unable To Win Against These Two Shows

The Reacher series has a 96% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and an 8.1 on IMDb. It is also extremely loved by audiences, with its second season having just been released. It would seem that despite this, the show was not able to match the success seen by two other shows that are currently being released.

According to the list, in first place is the Michelle Keegan and Richard Armitage thriller show, Fool Me Once. In second place is the highly anticipated series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians. This places Reacher in third place, which is quite surpising condiering the fact that it posseses a rating higher than the Keegan series.
