Carrie-Anne Moss Rejected from Tom Cruise Movie

Carrie-Anne Moss is a remarkably talented actress, who proved her skill in numerous movies. Owing to her professionalism, director Joe Carnahan selected her for Tom Cruise’s smashing franchise Mission: Impossible. She was all set to play the role of Julia, Ethan Hunt’s love interest in the movie. Moss was excited about her role and had started preparing for her stunts. She shared in an interview with About.com,

“I had said after The Matrix that I would never make an action film again. And then I got offered Mission: Impossible and I just had to say yes. It just felt like the right thing to do, so I think things sort of come your way and you make your choices. It’s very different than Trinity, so I can’t say that I did. I might’ve had a few moments where I was like, “What am I doing, doing another action film?” But life is interesting. Never say never.”

However, Director, Carnahan’s script was not liked by the producers. They gave it to Robert Towne for a rewrite. Carnahan found Towne’s work uninspiring and bad. It led to several arguments, and finally, Joe Carnahan walked out.

After watching the popular series Alias, Cruise decided to hire JJ Abrams as the new director. He brought many changes to the plot of the Mission: Impossible 3 movie, which included deleting the character of Moss.

Tom Cruise said,

“I want to work with Carrie and Scarlett, and Kenneth is someone I’ve been wanting to work with for years, but you have to start with the director and see where he’s going to take us.”

At the time, there were rumors that Johansson and Moss were fired from the movie, but it was later cleared that the actress had dropped out of the film due to the script changes and delay in the schedule.
