Shrek and Donkey were the heart of the $4 billion franchise. Their rapport is in part down to their voice actors. Mike Myers, who voiced Shrek, brought heart to the character. Add to that his deadpan sense of humor, we had our favorite ogre. Eddie Murphy, a veteran comedian, breathed life into the franchise with his portrayal of Donkey.

Their earning from the movies leaves no doubt about their importance for the project. The Wayne’s World star earned 3$ million for his role in the first film, followed by $15 million for each subsequent appearance. The Beverly Hill Cops star on the other hand earned $3 million for his first role, while making $10 million for each sequel.
