The Predator has been one of the most iconic characters in pop culture’s history. The first film launched back in 1987 with Arnold Schwarzenegger as the main protagonist. The success of the movie at the box office led to a sequel, comics, and many videogames based on this deadly alien hunter known as the Predator.
This race’s real name is Yautja, and they go planet by planet looking for the best enemies to hunt and take as trophies. Human-predator fights happen several times throughout the years. This is the best location to do a new predator-based game.

Many games were based on this fatal hunter, with some projects having very good titles and others not. The last game launched with the character as a protagonist was Predator: Hunting Grounds, launched back in 2020 and developed by IllFonic. The mechanics of this game are very similar to those of Dead by Daylight, with the difference that the Predator and the humans have weapons to defend themselves. Predator: Hunting Grounds had not received such a good reception and was forgotten very quickly. Here are some time periods perfect for a new possible Predator AAA game.
Prey was the last movie based on this character and was one of the most praised movies of 2022. This time, Predator will reach American soil pre-colonization and will hunt creatures and humans of a native tribe. Naru, the principal opponent and prey of this predator, shows incredible dexterity to defeat this menacing foe. The movie was probably one of the best adaptations of the character in a very original way. Here are some time periods perfect for a new possible Predator AAA game.
The Future
In a not-so-distant future, 2100 more or less, predators will make a full-scale invasion within the shadows, and soldiers equipped with the most advanced technology could take a stand against these stealthy hunters. This will be a perfect way to make a game with a protagonist who is a special agent who will fight against different types of predators. Or it can be a 4v4 experience where every side has their own upgrades to win the match.
The 1700s
As you saw in Prey, this will be a perfect single-player game where you control Naru, and like in Horizon Zero Dawn, you’ll have to upgrade and learn new abilities of hunting, tracking, and survival. This game could have a skill tree system and several weapons to unlock to fight different predators that start coming to the planet. There will be animal hunts and mid-bosses battles.
The 1600s
This could be similar to prey, but in Japan, samurais are still very active, as are ninjas too. The main goal is to find every one of the five or six predators that are eliminating every samurai or ninja you encounter. Through stealth mechanics and patience, you will have to discover and gather information about how they are not being seen as being killed. It is also a single-player experience.
Modern Day
The modern day will be an excellent scenario for a predator, but this time you won’t control the humans, only the predator. Within the two human sides that are battling, you will have, through stealth and without being detected, killed every enemy on the side until no one is left to take a stand. Mid-bosses and progression systems will be fun to add. You can jump in the middle of a battle between them and try to eliminate soldiers without being detected. You can also add secondary missions to gain XP.
There is no official confirmation that a new game based on Predator is being developed. Predator: Hunting Grounds die fast and without any chance of being a success. As for the movie side, thanks to the positive reception of Prey, another Predator movie is in production. Since Alien vs. Predator, this franchise has not had many years to rest between projects. The Predator launched in 2018 and Predators back in 2010, both with positive reception. Some rumors talk about a new game of Alien vs. Predator, but no official announcement has been made. The last game in this franchise was launched back in 2010 for the PS3 and Xbox 360 generations.
