1,800 Fandango users came together to rank the 5 best Thanksgiving movies in a survey hosted on the site. Although Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man is recognized as a Thanksgiving flick, it’s not on the list. Here’s the list of 5 best Thanksgiving movies according to fans.

Fantastic Mr. Fox
Wes Anderson’s Fantastic Mr. Fox stars George Clooney, Meryl Streep, Jason Schwartzman, Bill Murray, Willem Dafoe, and Owen Wilson and it is arguably one of the best stop-motion flicks. Also, for many, the 2009 comedy adventure is a delight to watch on Thanksgiving. Anderson gave a cozy touch to Fantastic Mr. Fox while it revolves around the family dynamics of Mr. Fox. On the aesthetics side, the movie has a great vibe of Thanksgiving from stealing the birds to community relationship and the costumes makes it one of the best movies to watch on Thanksgiving.
Grumpy Old Men
Romance comedy Grumpy Old Men is next on the list. Directed by Donald Petrie, the 1993 movie doesn’t exclusively deal with the holiday but it is certainly a great watch for Thanksgiving with family. But that’s not the reason for the pick, Addams Family Values has an astounding family dynamics, it’s hilarious and definitely worth the time. The movie has risen to cult status and that makes it even more exciting.
Planes, Trains and Automobiles
In simple words, Planes, Trains and Automobiles is a classic. Another hilarious addition to the list centered around Thanksgiving. The movie has a nice road trip setting focusing on Steve Martin’s Neal on his way home for Thanksgiving as he meets Del played by John Candy. The 1987 John Hughes classic is definitely the movie to watch during Thanksgiving. Before his death, Hughes was a master of holiday movies and Planes, Trains and Automobiles meet his standards with ease.
Knives Out
Rian Johnson’s acclaimed mystery thriller Knives Out has a stellar cast. Starring Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Michael Shannon, Don Johnson, Toni Collette, LaKeith Stanfield, Katherine Langford, Jaeden Martell, and Christopher Plummer, the movie has all the essence of a thrill ride. Although the 2019 movie doesn’t exclusively reflect the holiday, it certainly has the vibe to it. There is a feeling of fall as we witness changing leaves around the family’s mansion and the cozy costumes, especially, Evans’ cozy sweaters have the perfect Thanksgiving vibe making it the best movie to watch on the holiday.
