Golden Globes have finally announced who and what projects have been nominated. This year saw a huge number of amazing projects in all areas of interest, from horror, drama, romance, comedy, and even action. it is safe to say, that this year had very strong releases when it comes to cinema.
There have been quite a few nominations, that were expected and deserved, not only because of how talked about these projects were, but simply because of how good they were. There were also some projects, that were not expected to get nominated, though they had quite a few expectations coming with them before their release.
With this, here are five celebrities who have been nominated for Golden Globes, and five who could not have been because of their box office bombs.
Cillian Murphy For Oppenheimer
Cillian Murphy’s Oppenheimer was one of the most talked about films of this year. Christopher Nolan gave this film his all, and it could be seen by anyone who watched the movie. It is absolutely no surprise that this actor has made his way onto this list, considering just how much he put into not only his performance as this character but also the film itself. The actor was nominated in the category of Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture, Drama.
Margot Robbie For Barbie
A film that was just as talked about as Oppenheimer was Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, a film that was a long time coming and surprised its audience in the best ways possible. Margot Robbie being front and centre as the titular character, gave an exceptional performance. It is only natural, that she was nominated for a Golden Globe in the category of Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy.
Pedro Pascal For The Last Of Us
The Last of Us took the Internet by storm during its initial release. On top of it being an adaptation of one of the best video games of all time, it was also a very good attempt at it. Being as accurate as possible, fans loved the HBO series. Pedro Pascal, who played the role of Joel Miller, gave an amazing performance as the character, which was not only accurate to the source material but also extremely well executed. It is no surprise that he has been nominated in the category of Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series, Drama, for a Golden Globe.
Emma Stone for Poor Things and The Curse
Emma Stone had an exceptional year when it comes to her career, starring in incredible works, the recently released Poor Things, and the series, The Curse. For her exceptional talent, the actress was nominated in two categories for each of these works. Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series, Drama, for The Curse, and in the category of Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy for Poor Things.
Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour
Finally, the most surprising, yet expected nomination was none other than the highly beloved singer-songwriter, Taylor Swift. Not for any film that she made a cameo in, but for her concert film, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour. She was nominated for a Golden Globe in the category of Cinematic and Box Office Achievement.
People Who Did Not Get A Golden Globe Nomination After Poorly Performing Projects
The nomination list for the Golden Globes was certainly very diverse, with almost everyone who gave a good performance in a project being on it. Despite this, there were quite a few big names that were left off. Not because they did not feature in a project, but because the project that they did feature in, did not meet the mark. Not just the one set by those responsible for picking the nominations, but audiences as well. Here are five box office bombs, that’s stopped big-name actors from being nominated this year.

Chris Evans is one of the most beloved actors in Hollywood. Despite this, his recent AppleTV film, Ghosted, had a very poor performance amongst audiences. It seemed that there was little to no conversation around this movie. The critics were also not able to save it, having a rating of 5.8 on IMDb.
Vin Diesel for Fast X
Vin Diesel’s Fast X was supposed to be the biggest movie from The Fast and the Furious franchise, and it seemed like this was. Despite this, the film wasn’t even able to break even due to its outrageous budget. It is no surprise that the actor’s name was not seen next to the nominees.

Tom Cruise’s Mission: Impossible franchise is one of the biggest of all time, having had a huge influence on spy films. Despite this, the most recent addition, Mission: Impossible- Dead Reckoning Part 1 underperformed in the box office. The film had a huge budget and some very serious stunts, however, it still managed to fail to grab its audience’s attention.
Ezra Miller for The Flash
Ezra Miller’s The Flash had been in the making for years. it had been postponed a number of times and hyped up to an extent very few superhero films have. On top of this, it had cameos from past characters, and big-name celebrities, and was very significant to the future of the DCEU. Despite this, the film went down in history as the worst-done superhero film of all time.
