The First Descendant isn’t just your average looter shooter. Sure, it can be grindy, and while some of its bosses are just obstacles on your way to grab some good gear, others will seriously knock you down a peg or two unless you’re prepared.

Seriously, some of these bosses can push your skills to the limit. While some players might enjoy the challenge of soloing tough encounters, there are certain bosses in The First Descendant you’ll want to tackle with your friends.

A teammate can make these fights more manageable but also a lot more enjoyable, if you’re not the type to enjoy slamming your head against a brick wall over and over again. Here, we take a look at five of the hardest bosses in the game that you’ll want a friend for.

5. Dead Bride

Coming in at number five is the Dead Bride. She’s lower on this list, don’t be fooled into thinking she’s a pushover. She’s essentially a gun DPS check, so you need to consistently dish out high damage to bring her down.

Her attacks are relentless, and her health pool is nothing to scoff at. Enzo might be the boss-killer, but he can’t take her down without strategy. Make sure to target her weak points and deal as much damage as possible before she frenzies, and then get away from her AoE attacks.

This fiery behemoth is a challenge because of its overwhelming fire-based attacks and massive health pool. The boss can quickly turn the battlefield into a scorching inferno, leaving very little room to maneuver.

Dodging and positioning are crucial for this boss. It’s not super difficult to take down, so long as you and your friends are being careful. Take turns shooting its pillars down, and you should be fine.

3. Pyromaniac

As its name suggests, this boss loves to set everything ablaze. Its attacks are fast and furious, leaving little room for error.

It mixes ranged and melee fire attacks, which can be difficult to dodge consistently. If you go into this arena solo, you might quickly be overwhelmed by the amount of hostile attacks it dishes that take over the arena quickly.

Even with a friend, this one’s pretty tricky. Stay at range and bring him down with Chill, his weakness. Even poison will work. Just don’t bring a Fire character, and try not to stay too close and get clipped by his attacks.

2. Frost Walker

This boss ranks second on our list because it’s a true test of your abilities. It combines high damage output with debilitating attacks that require a good mixture of teamwork and DPS.

Soloing this one is quite hard, but with a good set of teammates, you can take it down relatively quickly. Learn its attack patterns, and make every shot count when it goes into its enraged mode.

Because it’s consistently on the move, it’s really hard to land hits, even in a game like The First Descendant. If you or your friend can bring a Gley and spam rockets, you won’t have nearly as much of a tough time as other people are having with this fight.

1. Devourer

Gear check, skill check, DPS check, what doesn’t this boss check? You have to be on the top of your game for this one, which is difficult when you’re trying to grind it for upgrades.

It’s best to attempt this one with a team, but one wrong move and you could cost everyone the entire run. It’s no better solo when all of its aggression is on you. This one is number one on the list for a reason.

Not only does this boss pack a punch, but it heals itself. Awesome, right? A trick to make the process of tackling the Devourer a little less painful is to use the ‘Weaken Recovery’ mod and melee its Pylons. This won’t eliminate the healing, but it’ll significantly lessen it.

What do you think about this list? Whether you agree or disagree, we’d love to hear your thoughts on it in the comments below!
