Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 is less than a month away from release to the delight of its fans who are eager to dive into Demetrain Titus’ latest adventure.
Having undergone the Rubicon Primaris and returned to the Space Marines with new abilities and armor, Titus’s path to redemption is sure to be a major draw for the upcoming title, along with his battles against the Tyranids, alien beings intent on consuming all organic life.
However, Titus does not have to surmount his challenges alone, and the potential for Space Marine 2 to bring various Chapters from the franchise’s lore to the game is immense. With that in mind, here are five of our favorite Space Marine Chapters we would like to see in the game.
5. The Astral Dragoons
With the Dragoons rumored to be fighting Tyranids in the Ultima Segmentum, where they were last spotted, Space Marine 2 would be a great opportunity to bring them back into the action.
Akin to the samurai with a merit-based hierarchy, these warriors eschew ranged weapons in favor of melee combat, using swords and bolt guns to get up close and personal with their foes. They would be a great addition to Titus’ list of allies in the game.
Their inclusion would be excellent in terms of the game’s mechanics as well, requiring the use of melee combat a lot more than other fighters in the game.
4. The Umbral Sentinels
With the forces of Chaos set to make an appearance in Saber Interactive’s new title, this Primaris-enhanced faction of the Grey Knights would make life easier for Titus, helping him focus his attention on the Tyranid threat given that Chaos troops are their specialty.
Considering that they are still coming to terms with their abilities, they would fit well within the narrative as a reflection of Titus’ own internal struggles as he goes through events in the narrative.
3. The Retributors
Efficient and ruthless on the battlefield while remaining aloof and distant from even their comrades, The Retributors are loyalists to the Imperium of Man and would be the perfect way to bring Titus’ internal conflict about his new role to the fore.
Their addition to the game would mean a complicated relationship with Titus whose own arc consists of overcoming the notion that he had failed his Chapter – which caused him to join the DeathWatch prior to being recruited once again by the Ultramarines.
There is a lot of potential for this Chapter to have an impact on the narrative in Space Marine 2 – an opportunity that Saber Interactive may find too good to miss out on.
2. The Nevonian Free Company
A chapter of Knights who suffered devastating losses to the Tyranids, the Nevonian Free Company are the survivors of a once-proud order of Knights looking to make a final stand against enemies of the Emperor in order to restore their honor.
They would be a great addition to the game considering their hatred for all things Tyranid while also being staunch, albeit unpredictable, allies to Titus as he takes the fight to the enemy.
With nearly suicidal tendencies underlining their ferocious battle tactics, the Nevonian Free Company might be just what Titus needs against hordes of Tyranids with them diving gleefully into battle despite overwhelming odds.
1. The Blood Fiends
Former members of the Unnumbered Sons, these Primaris-enhanced Space Marines could work well with Titus as well as the Umbral Sentinels considering that they have had a long time to hone their abilities after undergoing the Rubicon Primaris.
With their vampiric tendencies and feral fighting style, this Chapter could be a great addition to Space Marine 2 with their bloodlust working well against the Tyranids even as they prove unpredictable and perhaps tenuous allies for Titus and his company. They would also fit well with the game’s new combat systems, blending melee strikes and ranged attacks with ferocious accuracy.
Each of these Chapters could bring something new to the table in Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2, and Saber Interactive is sure to use them well in a narrative that already promises to be everything fans of the franchise would expect – and more!
