6 Demon Slayer Characters Early vs Final Designs Revealed

1) Douma

Douma made his first proper appearance towards the end of season 2 and has managed to captivate the audience ever since. His fantastic voice, devious smile, and handsome face have confused fans about whether they should love or hate him.

However, the early design of Douma was very different from the final product we have seen. Out of all the characters, Douma was the one who went through the most surreal amount of changes, and the decision to change things proved right, with the audience falling in love with Douma’s character design.

2) Tanjiro

Tanjiro Kamado, the story’s main protagonist, is on a journey to turn his sister back into a human after turning her into a demon. He is one of the most humble characters in all of anime and has a pure heart.

However, the sweet and loving Tanjiro was not the same in his early character designs. As revealed in the earlier designs, he was more of an agnostic than a lovable character; he did not even have a smile and only had one arm. Despite the final product being good, fans wonder what would have happened if they had gone through with the original design.

Giyu is one of the most pivotal characters of the story; the story would not have existed if any other hashira except Giyu had found Nezuko. The hashira have no mercy for demons and certainly exorcise them on the spot.

Luckily, Giyu was the one who found them and gave them a chance. Giyu’s character design also underwent some changes before it was concluded.

Nezuko is the sister of Tanjiro and one of the series’ main characters. Initially, she is a human, but she is turned into a demon at the start of the series. She is also mighty and agile, and she has a lot of fans.

Her initial character design was changed; however, only a few changes were made to it, except for the face and body structure. But she indeed went through some changes. She plays a vital role in the story and is loved by everyone.

5) Muichiro

Muichiro Tokito is one of the prodigies in Demon Slayer, as he was the fastest person to become a hashira. He had a tough upbringing where his mother died of illness, his father passed away trying to get help for his wife, and his brother got killed by a demon.

Muichiro mostly has a somewhat stoic face; however, his initial design reveals a sad and depressed face. He also had a lot of dark circles beneath his eyes in the initial draft, but it changed towards the end.

6) Uzui

Uzui is the sound hashira in the series and was one of the main characters in the franchise’s second season. His flamboyance knows no bounds, and he always wants to shine. He played a crucial role in the defeat of the upper moon. Without him, Tanjiro and the others would have been dead.

His initial design shows him as skinny, with his face covered with a bandage, only revealing his eyes. His final design was way better than the initial design that the author had in mind.
