Much loved American actor Lance Reddick tragically passed away from heart disease in 2023, aged just 60. The star had a prosperous acting career that included prominent roles on television shows like The Wire, Fringe, Bosch, Oz, Lost, and Percy Jackson and the Olympians.
On the big screen, the late actor was perhaps best known for his role in the John Wick franchise from 2014 until his death. However, he’s also appeared in several other highly watchable movies.
These are six excellent non-John Wick movies in which Lance Reddick has a prominent role. If you miss him, get them watched.
White House Down (2013)
The political action thriller White House Down follows a divorced US Capitol Police officer and Afghanistan veteran as he attempts to rescue his daughter and the U.S. President from a terrorist assault in the White House by a paramilitary team led by an ex-Delta Force operative. The cast is led by Channing Tatum as the Capitol Police officer and Jamie Foxx as the President. Lance Reddick plays General Caulfield, Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and is a formidable and authoritative presence. White House Down is pure entertainment. It’s not Oscar material by any means, but it benefits massively from the chemistry of its leads and makes viewers laugh and sit on the edge of their seats.

The Guest (2014)
The Guest is a thriller about an American soldier who visits a family unannounced, claiming to be a friend of their son who died in combat in Afghanistan. His arrival coincides with a series of deaths, and the family’s daughter suspects the soldier is involved – and her suspicions are justified. Dan Stevens plays David Collins, the soldier, and he brings lots of personality to the proceedings. Lance Reddick plays Major Richard Carver, the head of a private corporation called the KPG, who assembles a team to deal with the situation, and he does so in a typically astute fashion. The Guest is a dark, intelligent, violent movie. Most importantly, it’s a lot of fun.

Faults (2014)
Faults is a psychological thriller with elements of black comedy. It follows a cult deprogrammer whom a couple hires to help their daughter, who is under the influence of the mysterious eponymous cult. Leland Orser plays Ansel Roth, the cult deprogrammer, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead plays Claire, the young girl under the cult’s influence. Lance Reddick plays Mick, an actor hired to intimidate Roth to prevent him from getting to Claire. It’s a fascinating film with a top cast bringing their A-game. Orser, in particular, is superb, and Reddick plays his part perfectly as a looming threat throughout. The mix of comedy and seriousness is balanced terrifically.

Monster Party (2018)
The horror thriller Monster Party is about three friends performing highly coordinated heists and infiltrating a dinner party in a Malibu mansion. The trio soon realizes the party guests aren’t what they seem and finds their seemingly simple cash grab transforms into a desperate and bloody battle for survival. The Boys’ Erin Moriarty, who plays the daughter in the family who owns the mansion, is the biggest name in an otherwise reasonably little-known cast. Lance Reddick plays Milo, a dinner guest revealed to be the leader of a group of recovering serial killers, and he does so in a fiendishly maniacal fashion. Monster Party is a twisted riot with plenty of humor and gore to entertain any viewer.

The Domestics (2018)
The post-apocalyptic action horror movie The Domestics is set in a world in which the global ruling class of humanity has conducted a cataclysmic chemical weapons attack on the United States to “reset” society amidst a population crisis. It stars Tyler Hoechlin and Kate Bosworth as a husband and wife attempting to travel across the countryside in search of safety under the looming threat of deadly factions of fellow survivors. Lance Reddick plays Nathan Wood, a more benevolent survivor encountered by the couple, and he does so with equal charm and ruthlessness. The Domestics is a gritty, visceral, fast-paced film that’s a lot of fun from beginning to end.

Faith Based (2020)
Faith Based is a comedy movie about two hapless buddies who decide to make a faith-based film to get rich quickly. Luke Barnett and Tanner Thompson play Luke and Tanner, the two idiot friends who make the film. Lance Reddick plays Pastor Mike, Luke’s adoptive father, the local church pastor, and the man who gives the boys the idea to make the film (though his motive was to save his financially troubled church, not to get rich). Faith Based is a funny send-up of a movie with surprisingly intelligent and nuanced takes on the themes of friendship and belief. It’s good-natured and can be compared to The Book of Mormon, which is a huge compliment. The cast – including established stars like Margaret Cho, David Koechner, and Jason Alexander – does well, and Reddick plays his role admirably.
