Chris Hemsworth made a smart move by joining the Russo brother Joe and Anthony Russo for the 2020 film Extraction. The actor had a hunch that the movie was indeed going to be a huge success but had no idea of the extent of the fame and success that the Netflix movie will receive.
Ahead of the release of Extraction 2 starring Chris Hemsworth, there was a time when the actor was not cast in the role. According to the trivia of the film, before Hemsworth, notable veteran actors known for starring in Die Hard and The Terminator, who may not have been the right fit were attached to the film as its lead protagonists!
When Chris Hemsworth Was Not Cast In Extraction
It does seem hard to imagine a world where the iconic continuous shot of Chris Hemsworth beating guys and running for over 12 minutes did not happen. Well, this world would have been a reality if Hemsworth wouldn’t have showed his physique and his agility in doing these stunts.

According to IMDB trivia, before the Thor actor was finalized for the role, there were talks of having lead protagonists who were of veteran stature. As per the reports, The Terminator star Arnold Schwarzenegger and Die Hard lead actor Bruce Willis were considered for the role of the protagonist! Although it would have been fun to see the veteran actors in such intense action, the movie would also have been an adopted father-son bonding between the leads.
After much discussion, Chris Hemsworth was finalized for the role and the rest is history. Extraction became one of the biggest hits on Netflix ever and the movie was watched by 99 million households during the initial first four weeks of its release! The reception was so good that a sequel was announced soon. Extraction 2 recently dropped its official trailer and the views have already hit a whopping 8.9 million within a duration of 6 days.

As stated earlier, Extraction 2 is on its way to make some waves when it arrives on Netflix. The recently released trailer once again boasted Hemsworth working his way through hordes of armies protecting a family and extracting them (pun intended).
The trailer boasted intense action scenes with guns blazing and once again, an iconic continuous shot but this time…on a moving train. The trailer also emphasizes the backstory of its protagonist and the family that he had or probably has. The film will be once again directed by notable director Sam Hargrave and is slated for a release date of 16th June 2023 on Netflix.
To catch up before the sequel releases, Extraction is available to stream on Netflix around the world.
