7 Days to Die is a survival horror game in Early Access for almost a decade and only recently got its version 1.0 released for players. The new update adds many features and alters the game’s mechanics.
With the update, players are divided on the new additions and changes made to the game. However, there seems to be some confusion regarding one of the hostile NPCs in the game.
Players Seem Confused About Canines in 7 Days to Die’s 1.0 Build

Being an open-world survival game, 7 Days to Die relies heavily on environmental elements, enemies, and NPCs (friendly, neutral, and hostile). Animals form a significant portion of the biome in the game’s world.
Among animals, some of the most annoying canines are Dire Wolves, Wolves, and Zombie Dogs. After the 1.0 update, new models were added. Because of these changes, players seemed confused and polarised about the game’s offerings.
For example, in a recent post on the game’s subreddit, a player asked about an animal that they were unfamiliar with:
what the fuck is this???

This is what led a Redditor in the game’s subreddit to lash out and rant on the subreddit:
Why is everyone calling the hellhound the new direwolf?

The player’s frustration was evident in the post. But it seems like other players hardly thought that their explanation was correct. From disliking their post to correcting them using the developer’s recent patch notes, other subreddit members didn’t receive the posts well.
How Other 7 Days to Die Players Reacted to the Post

Games still in development often add stuff to experiment with the game’s meta, in a survival game that calls for altering mechanics and how hostiles behave.
Despite 7 Days to Die still being in development, many people are playing it as the game has ranked 23rd in the most-played category on Steam. That increases the chances of conflicting opinions and potential spats in the gam’s communities. This was the case on the game’s subreddit, too:

Some others felt the need to call out OP for their post being frustrating to read:

Officially, the patch notes for the ‘1.0 b312 EX’, which was an experimental update, confirm that the creature was indeed a Dire Wolf:

The developers seem to be looking to add new game challenges, and players would need to check patch notes regularly to stay updated. Have you tried 7 Days to Die yet? Do you intend to try it in the future? We would love to know your thoughts in the comments below!
