Before James Cameron’s Avatar hit the theatres in 2009, not a lot of people would have guessed how big a success the movie would go on to become. 14 years down the line, the first two movies of the franchise have been released, with a third set to be released in 2024. But much to the fans’ dismay, the much-anticipated third part of the film would be delayed by an entire year. It would come as a relief to Jim Carrey though.
Avatar perfectly set up for a grand finish
It has been announced that James Cameron’s Avatar franchise will consist of 5 films. After the release of the latest schedule for the franchise, the franchise will now span over a period of 23 years. That is an entire generation gone.
No wonder the hype for all these films will be unreal. That is to be expected after the first two films in the franchise are the highest and third-highest-grossing films of all time. The numbers are only expected to increase with time.
Jim Carrey and Co. breathe a sigh of relief
Avatar 3, the next film in the series, was originally scheduled for a release in December 2024. But the schedule of the entire franchise stands changed now. The last film, which was supposed to be released in 2028, will now release in 2031, while the 3rd film has been delayed by a year.
Though the fans have been left disappointed by the change in schedule, the people behind Sonic the Hedgehog 3 stand relieved. The movie was scheduled for a December 2024 release set to go head-to-head with probably one of the most anticipated movies ever.
That must have been quite a task for Sonic as well.
Sonic the Hedgehog has a clear run at the billion mark now
That doesn’t mean that Sonic the Hedgehog is by any means a pushover. The Jim Carrey starrer has earned $707 million over two movies. Not to mention what a hit it has been among the folks. No wonder people were delighted when they came to know about the change in schedule.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 now has a clear run at Box Office Glory. Everyone’s favorite Hedgehog will definitely make a run for it, reaching the fabled billion-dollar mark.
