After the failure of the previous title, the company wanted to change the reception of the IP among players, and it seems that the changes have worked. Here are nine things that this title does better than Modern Warfare 3.

9) HUD

The new HUD of Black Ops 6 looks amazing.

Obviously, being a completely different series within the same franchise, everything related to the HUD and Display, along with the menus, is entirely different. In this case, Treyarch decided to change various elements to ensure everything serves a purpose.

For example, one of the changes visible at first glance when loading a map is that now each map will display the average kills and deaths, as well as the ratio for the general community.

This type of information is crucial for the franchise’s veteran players. The studio has worked hard to ensure that everything on the screen is comfortable and simple to understand for players in this fast-paced mode that is always in motion.

The idea is that, beyond the necessary amount of on-screen information, the studio opted for less visual clutter in the HUD to enhance the gameplay experience.

8) Modes

Kill Order is the new mode in the game.

Like every Call of Duty, Black Ops 6 will not be an exception when it comes to including many modes familiar to players from previous installments. The beta offered a Moshpit with a mix of various popular franchise modes, along with a new mode known as Kill Order.

In this specific mode, players must kill the opposing team’s High-Value Target (HVT) to score more points. This is a fantastic addition compared to Modern Warfare 3.

The team that can defend this target the longest will earn more points. This was one of the most entertaining and original modes added to the multiplayer roster, along with the classic Team Deathmatch, Domination, and Hardpoint.

According to the studio, these are just a few of the many modes that this multiplayer will offer, clearly aiming to shake things up. There is a ton of potential.

7) Perks

The perks are another well-known mechanic for creating any class in multiplayer mode. These provide various passive abilities that allow players to gain certain advantages in combat.

In this aspect, the studio didn’t make major changes compared to what we’ve seen in other titles like MW3. However, some specific adjustments make the gameplay more dynamic when respawning. The idea is to avoid player frustration when dying multiple times in a row.

For instance, the Vigilance perk alerts you when an enemy is targeting you. On the other hand, the Tracker perk allows you to see the equipment and footsteps of enemies for a limited time.

The Engineer perk does something similar, with a time limit after respawning to see what enemies are up to. Treyarch designed these perks to work together in a way that unlocks a special perk. These abilities are designed to create more solid loadouts.

6) Life and Endurance

One of the minor adjustments made by the studio regarding health is that, beyond dying from a few shots as usual, if for some reason the player can survive, a small health bar will appear and recharge within a few seconds, indicating that killing is not as straightforward as before.

This has always been a controversial topic within the franchise, because one of the key aspects of these games’ personalities is the idea of dying constantly.

In the case of Black Ops 6, the studio decided to give players a bit more endurance, but not enough to significantly alter the experience. The maps are large enough to allow for long-range weapons.

As a result, it will be slightly more difficult to kill a distant target because of the characters’ increased health and endurance. The players will now have a little more room to escape or seek vengeance.

5) Weapons

A new set of weapons is coming to Black Ops 6.

One of the main characteristics of this title is that it takes place in the 1990s, meaning that all of the arsenals from that decade will be present in multiplayer mode.

Obviously, the studio did not include all the weapons that will be available in the final version of the game, but in the beta, there was the opportunity to try out several assault rifles, a shotgun, and a couple of other weapons. The arsenal is interesting, to say the least.

Most of these weapons show outstanding promise, especially the XM4 assault rifle, which, equipped with a decent scope, will be effective for long, medium, and short ranges.

This rifle is truly fast and very accurate in combat. Meanwhile, the LR 7.62 sniper rifle proved to be useful on almost any map, as it can kill enemies with a single shot. The weapon selection that Treyarch will use is very impressive.

4) Mechanics

The combat mechanics of Black Ops 6 have drastically changed, focusing entirely on speed and movement agility. This game is significantly faster than Modern Warfare 3 in all aspects. Even when shooting, players will notice all the changes in character accuracy.

It’s clear that a different studio designed it. These changes came to make the experience more fluid than ever in comparison to Modern Warfare 3.

All controls work very well, solid and fluid, allowing for quick, precise, and uninterrupted gameplay. This new gameplay dynamic, which prioritizes speed over previous installments, fine-tunes the weapons.

The players will have a ton of choices that will provide a different experience in combat. There will not be room to escape, and even the best players will be tested thanks to the movement design.

3) Gameplay

The general idea of gameplay is to keep players constantly moving. This is evident even in the design of the maps shown. The game ensures that players never remain stationary for more than a few seconds, as doing so puts them at risk of rapid death.

This is a significant difference from previous games, which had some exceptions where players could remain in one spot for a considerable time, making the gameplay less fluid.

These initial maps introduced by the studio demonstrate that a lot of creativity went into their creation. The development team’s main goal is to ensure that all players have fun and there is no room for frustration, which would break the immersion in a fast-paced match.

A small but notable detail is that players can now throw grenades and other equipment while shooting, which is new to the franchise.

2) OmniMovement

This is the standout feature that Treyarch has been promoting in recent videos, and it clearly transforms the entire experience in Black Ops 6, where the movement has evolved to something really fast.

Players can now throw themselves in any direction without exception, including the ability to run in any direction. The dynamics will completely change, making the matches much more fast-paced than any other game in the series.

The idea is to use this ability to dodge and make impossible shots. The entire gameplay integrates this new mechanic, enabling players to toss grenades and other equipment in mid-air without pausing their shooting.

This new feature will forever change multiplayer matches. According to several players, this feature lacks more adjustments, but the studio is confident that it will be ready for the launch.

1) Maps

Story mode gameplay.

Probably the studio’s greatest achievement in Black Ops 6 is the map design. The design of all four maps in the beta ensures seamless gameplay, preventing players from staying stationary for extended periods.

Each corner of these maps has angles that leave players exposed, forcing them to keep up the pace without stopping. This specific decision bears a resemblance to the franchise’s earlier games, which emphasized openness.

If the remaining 12 maps, which will be available once the game is released, are of the same design quality, we might be looking at one of the best Call of Duty games in a long time.

It seems the studio truly understood what fans have been asking for and implemented it perfectly in this new title. There is a ton of potential for this game to be one of the best of the franchise in recent years.

What are your thoughts about this game? Does it have the potential to redeem the franchise? Let us know in the comments!

I'm a big fan of movies and videogames in general. I really love Pokémon and Godzilla. One of my favorite games is The Last of Us, Part II. A compelling and well-written story is always welcome.
