In true Bethesda fashion, Starfield, the latest brand spanking new space-bound IP offers multiple editions of the game for purchase. The Standard Edition, which can be pre-ordered for access to ‘The Old Mars Skin Pack’ and is coming to Xbox and PC Game Pass. But for those players who simply couldn’t wait, the game’s Premium Edition offered 5 days of early access. Which doesn’t seem like a very long time. but it was certainly long enough for around 1% of the player base to complete the main story of Starfield. as tracked by TrueAchievements.

It’s no surprise that a healthy chunk of the player base has committed the required time to fully complete the main story of Starfield as Bethesda has a great history of incredibly immersive game series such as The Elder Scrolls or Fallout games that easily soak up hours of your day in a single sitting.

HowLongtoBeat estimates getting the “One Giant Leap” Achievement takes around 17 hours to pull off. Which is a very respectable number, considerably longer than most single-player campaign modes. and considering to do this the player has to actively ignore side missions or other full-fledged storylines.

At the time of writing, we are on the cusp of the full release to standard edition and game pass players and there is a possibility that over 1,000 people will have completed the main story before many even have a chance to play it. that being said it does seem that Bethesda has managed to break its game launch curse this time around with extremely positive overall reviews and a Metacritic score of 86 for Xbox series X and 88 for PC, which puts it 4 points above the PC version of Fallout 4 and 34 points above Fallout 76. It will be interesting to see the reception from the wider audience when Starfield releases fully at midnight tonight.

The rarest achievement in Starfield currently is “Life Begets Life” for gathering 500 organic resources with only 11 players having collected this accolade, clearly being a space farmer isn’t a priority for most players. A much more interesting achievement is “Starcrossed” for reaching maximum relationship with one of the game’s various companions. which shows people are clearly interested in seeing just how far friendships can go in space.

Players rushing through the main story-line of Bethesda games is nothing new, Many of us remember being sorely disappointed about being ordered to kill Paarthurnax early on in our time with Skyrim, or even accidentally skipping half of Fallout 3‘s story and meeting Liam Neeson in rivet city early. that said, the developers have made it clear that Starfield is packed with engaging side missions that players should absolutely not ignore. gamers invariably have the final say on how they choose to spend their time in Starfield’s expansive galaxy, however. and that’s what open-world games are all about, choice. and Starfield has no shortage of that.
