On an episode of her talk show Red Table Talk in 2019, Jada Pinkett Smith disclosed that she has been cheated on as well as that she has cheated on a partner. According to the actress, her cheating on someone felt ‘more devastating’ to her than someone else cheating on her.
Will Smith Not the Only Lover Jada Pinkett Smith Has Cheated On
Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith are well-known for their relationship. The husband and wife claim that they always talk about everything with each other, even after facts about their ‘extramarital relationships’ got disclosed. However, the actress recently opened up about how she truly felt about ‘cheating’.
This goes back to 2019 on an episode of her web series, Red Table Talk. While talking on the topic of cheating, Jada Pinkett Smith let slip that before her relationship with Will Smith, she had been cheated on by someone, after which she advanced to cheat on someone else. The then 49-year-old actress expressed how cheating on her other partner was personally more devastating to her than being cheated on herself. She said,
“I had two relationships before Will that were kind of serious to me, where I got cheated on — which really broke my heart — and then I cheated on somebody that I really cared about. And I have to tell you, me cheating on someone was more devastating than me being cheated on. It actually taught me to forgive when I got cheated on because I understood and what I understood most was that it didn’t have anything to do with me. Because when I had to look at myself and understand why I did it, right? I realized it had absolutely nothing to do with my partner at all.”
Jada Pinkett Smith was truly traumatized when she realized how awful it felt to cheat on someone you love. The actress also revealed later on in 2020, on the same talk show, that she had cheated on Will Smith with her son Jdan Smith’s friend, August Alsina.
Despite these revelations, the Emancipation actor forgave his wife, and the two are in an ‘open marriage’ like arrangement.
Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith’s Relationship
Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith got married two years after they started dating in 1995 when they found out the actress was pregnant with their son, Jaden. After nearly 23 years of being together, the couple now no longer address each other as ‘husband and wife’, as claimed by Pinkett.
The reason behind this is that they both have started dissolving all the expectations and labels attached to marriage. On TIDAL’s Rap Radar podcast, Will Smith affirmed his wife’s claims, saying,
“We don’t even say we’re married anymore. We refer to ourselves as ‘life partners,’ where you get into that space where you realize you are literally with somebody for the rest of your life. There’s no deal breakers. There’s nothing she could do — ever — nothing that would break our relationship. She has my support till death, and it feels so good to get to that space.”
Well, whatever happens between the duo anymore, what we do know for sure is that divorce is not an option for the Smith couple.
