“Intimidating.”

When asked about how his experience had been and what he felt while working with Newman, Hanks only had one word and that was more than enough. He was heavily intimidated by the actor and the legendary aura that he exerts. Tom Hanks played a mob enforcer who was raised under the guidance of John Rooney as played by Paul Newman. He also added that watching him work is a blessing on its own and something he would forever cherish throughout his life.

“His artistry, his charity — he’s the blueprint, really.”

The actor appeared in voice acting roles as well as some television roles here and there. This routine continued on for six more years until his passing in 2008. So not only did Tom Hanks get an opportunity of a lifetime by working with Newman, but it was also the last movie he ever made in his entire career.

Road to Perdition is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
