When one sits and makes a list of the celebrities who are recognized around the globe, Tom Hanks is one of the first names that will be on the list. Since 1984, the actor has been ruling hearts as Hollywood’s nice guy, one of the main reasons that people love the Cast Away actor is due to his versatility and his dedication to becoming one with the character he takes on.
Since fans know how easily Tom Hanks steals the show, his niece, Carly Reeves participated in the second season of ABC’s Claim to Fame, but she had a major meltdown as she became the very first contestant to get eliminated from the reality show after a fellow contestant guessed she was the niece of Tom Hanks.
Tom Hanks’ Niece Believed She Deserves More Screen Time
Claim to Fame is a popular reality show that aired for the first time in 2022, the show features 12 contestants, who share one common dirty secret, that is, all of them have a renowned relative. Their task is to correctly guess the relative of the other contestants using clues while keeping their relative’s identity a secret.
The second season of the reality show kicked off with a serious meltdown from Carly Reeves, she was eliminated by Hugo, a fellow contestant who correctly guessed that Tom Hanks was the famous relative she mentioned in the show. Following her elimination, Carly Reeves started yelling and shouting that “These friggin’ clues are just so friggin’ obvious.” As she was going back to her bedroom to pack her belongings she was heard screaming with anger, “Friggin’ bench… Friggin’ poster of friggin’ Forrest Gump, are you kidding me?”
But that was not all, as the other contestants were taken aback by her exasperation, as no other film in movie history had a bench reference. The scene ended as she claimed that deserves more screen time, and she does not deserve this.
“Why a bench? Why a bench? There’s literally no references to benches on any other movie. Even Gabriel found that out, he’s not even smart. I didn’t even get to do any challenges.”
“I don’t deserve this. I should have more camera time. I should be here longer. No one expected that, no one.”
Carly Reeves’ reaction was a bit too much, however after she was eliminated from the show, she opened up about her emotions and experience she had on Claim to Fame.
Carly Reeves Was Embarrassed By Her Tantrum
Following the elimination, the Larry Crowne actress talked to Entertainment Weekly about her experience on the reality show, and her reaction which is all over the internet. She acknowledged that she “overreacted a little bit,” she added that she was furious at the moment because she did not get to stay on the show like some other contestants and that she was the first contestant to leave the show.
“But I’m an emotional, very dramatic person. I was really angry that I didn’t get a chance to play as long as some of other contestants. I mean, there was no one to be angry at. I was just angry in general at myself, and at the fact that I was going home. And then that turned to complete despair and sadness. I even say, like, ‘I should get more camera time!’ That’s just so silly of me to say. But I also was just saying things out of my mouth.”
Carly Reeves continued how she talked to her uncle, Tom Hanks who wished her the “best of luck” on the show. She is ashamed that her temper tantrum might have made him feel embarrassed, but now as she rewatches the moment, she finds it quite funny.
“Maybe I don’t want him to watch it because I don’t want to embarrass him for any reason. I hope I don’t embarrass him, but I don’t think I do. So, I would love for him to watch it, because I think it’s hilarious… He’s happy for me no matter what. He did ask me, ‘Did you make some money?’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, I made a little bit.’ And he said, ‘Ok, good.’ So, he was happy that I made a little money.”
Her reaction was indeed funny, and it went viral as viewers of the show were shocked at her reaction, and they are making memes related to her elimination from the show, which is quite entertaining to see.
