Actor Liam Neeson once got in deep trouble after he made a shocking confession during a public press. During the press conference of Cold Pursuit (2019), the actor revealed a revenge story. Neeson was accused of racism because of the way he addressed the person he was looking for.
This confession came as the actor was talking about taking revenge, the concept which was addressed in Cold Pursuit (2019). In the movie, his character, Nels Coxman, is seeking revenge for his son’s death.
Liam Neeson revealed a shocking story
Back in 2019, actor Liam Neeson appeared for an interview with The Independent, the actor shared a story he has never talked about in the past. He explained that someone in his life told him that she was r*ped, and Neeson asked her to describe the man, the woman said it was a Black man.
The story was quite shocking, the actor revealed he went out looking for the man, seeking revenge. However, the actual problems came after he gave a description of the man.
Liam Neeson was accused of racism
Further in the interview, the actor explained that he went out on the streets every night looking for the man. The actor said,
“I did it for maybe a week, hoping some ‘Black b**tard’ would come out of a pub and have a go at me about something, you know, so that I could kill him.”
The actor was accused of racism because he called the man a “Black B**tard.” He then confessed that it was horrible and realized that “violence and revenge would only cause more violence.”
The actor acknowledged the accusations
The actor was heavily criticized for his statement and then he acknowledged the accusations in an interview with GMA, the actor claimed that he is not a racist. Despite his controversy, it didn’t cause any problems in the release of Cold Pursuit (2019).
The movie performed reasonably well at the global box office, grossing over $76 million worldwide on a budget of $60 million. While Cold Pursuit didn’t receive any major awards or outstanding reviews, it still managed to find its audience and provide an entertaining action thriller experience even today.
