Charlize once appeared for an interview on one of the Hot Ones episodes and pointed out how filming her own action scenes in movies was weirdly similar to her being a student at the Joffrey School of Ballet.

Charlize Theron talks about the similarities between filming action scenes and doing ballet

Charlize Theron has portrayed many successful roles in her career and she also got to play the iconic role of a MI6 agent, Lorraine Broughton in the action thriller movie, Atomic Blonde. Once in an interview on First We Feast’s Hot Ones episode, the actress was asked, “How if at all do the months of fight training from movie like Atomic Blonde compared to being a student at the Joffrey School of Ballet?

The Monster actress talked about how the 2 activities despite being absolutely different were still weirdly similar in their own sense of things. She said,

“It’s pretty similar, that kind of coordination that I was used to for so many years through dance really helped me with fight training because it really is like a dance and the injuries were quite simple. That kind of wear and tear, it’s a lot. I always love being in a corner with a fellow dancer and just complaining about how many times we had blood poisoning from blisters in our feet that never got to heal and things like that.”

The Bombshell actress is a true badass

Charlize Theron has been very successful in the industry over the years and the sole reason for her success is her dedication to her roles. The Mighty Joe Young actress has always loved doing her own stunts and action scenes in the movies but that has got the actress in trouble a lot. Theron once revealed that she injured herself while filming for the movie Aeon Flux back in 2005. She “herniated a disk in her neck after a fall” and the film’s production had to be shut down for some time. The actress even revealed that she could have been paralyzed at the time.

Back in 2020 while filming for The Old Guard, Theron injured her hand very badly but she continued to film with an injured hand in order to complete the filming of the movie before the deadline. She said,

“I basically lost all control of my hand. [I was] shooting all this stuff riding a horse with a hand that had no function in it. It wasn’t until I was done with the film that I realized I needed three surgeries”

Charlize Theron continued to film for 5 weeks with a hand that needed 3 surgeries. Although The Old Guard was not released in theatres due to the covid pandemic, the movie still largely received positive reviews from fans and critics.

The Old Guard is currently streaming on Netflix.
