While Greta Gerwig’s summer blockbuster Barbie is all set to release, it is now time to disclose how the leading actors Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling prepared for their respective roles. While Robbie is believed to be the best choice for Barbie, Gosling happens to be Gerwig’s only choice for Ken. However, the actor was initially hesitant about his appearance in the movie.

Although after the release of Barbie posters, people lost their minds over Ryan Gosling’s Ken, depicted as a bare-chested, spray-tanned heartthrob; the actor was evidently bribed into his role. While initially hesitant to appear in Barbie, Margot Robbie confessed to bribing the actor with presents to accept his role, since Greta Gerwig was hell-bent to cast Gosling as Ken.

Thus, the Barbie director mentioned being fixated on Gosling and being adamant about casting him as Ken. Stating how she wanted the actor to sign for the role of Barbie’s legendary and stylish boyfriend, Gerwig mentioned, “It was only ever Ryan Gosling, and it was a long journey”.

However, there’s a secret that lies beneath Ryan Gosling’s role in the summer blockbuster. Apparently, Margot Robbie had to bribe the actor into accepting his role. During an interview, the Suicide Squad actress mentioned, “Ryan’s name was like from the get-go, so we just couldn’t see anyone else doing the role,”.

Thus, being desperate to “get Ryan to sign on” Margot Robbie confessed saying, I will give you a present every single day if you come do this movie.” Stating how it became a full-on deal between her and Gosling, Robbie stated, “I think that was the deal clincher”. Ryan Gosling later revealed how he received “puka shells, beach-related things, horse mats, horse boots” to accept his role. 

The actor even called Greta Gerwig’s Barbie the best present he received and also mentioned working with Margot Robbie as a fortunate event.
