The world was deprived of what seems to be one of the best Batman movies out there when Ben Affleck departed from James Gunn’s DCU. After Gunn took control of the DCU and removed almost every connection to Zack Snyder’s DCEU, several insiders now have quite the stories to tell.

From what the insiders state, it seems that there was an unmade Batman project involving Ben Affleck. The movie would have been a James Bond-style Batman movie directed by none other than Affleck himself and now an insider cannot stop himself from giving away the details of the unmade movie!

Following Zack Snyder’s exit from the DCEU and James Gunn and Peter Safran creating a new era of the DCU, several actors were removed from the franchise. Removing Henry Cavill from the role of Superman and Ben Affleck also announcing his departure, the DCU was left bereft of its main characters.

In another universe, if Ben Affleck wouldn’t have departed from the franchise, the world would have been gifted with one of the best Batman movies out there. Talking about the Batman project that was never made, an insider shared several details of the movie that would have turned out to be just awesome.

“I can’t really say too much other than it was f–king awesome. It was tying together a lot of really cool Batman storylines that had never been really explored. Ben’s story was gonna cover something that had never really been covered in comics but was building off of storylines in the Batman mythos over the last 80 years and approaching it from a new kind of perspective”

The insider further stated,

“It was a really great project in the beginning. Ben had to step away for personal reasons, and I totally understood, but the time that I spent with Ben working on the project was fantastic. Maybe someday I can spill the beans, but I still can’t talk about it.”

The statements made by the insider were in-line with what director Matt Reeves said about the unmade Batman project and according to him “it was very James Bond-ian”.

Matt Reeves found international acclaim when he cast Robert Pattinson in the role of Batman in his movie The Batman back in 2022. Being a part of the DCU (but a different universe), the director talked about Ben Affleck’s original idea about a Batman movie.

“It was a standalone Batman film that was centered on Ben’s version of the character, but it was more action-driven than what I felt I could do. I didn’t connect to the movie-in terms of me as a filmmaker. It was very James Bond-ian; it was filled with a lot of set pieces. It could have been a very exciting movie for someone else to do, but it wasn’t for me to do.”

Although Ben Affleck stepped down from the DCU, there could be a possibility of the actor directing his version of Batman in the future. From what the insiders and Matt Reeves stated, it seems that the script is too good to pass up and there could be a future where audiences are greeted by Batman saying, “The name’s Wayne. Bruce Wayne”.
