Team Reptile’s Bomb Rush Cyberfunk Dropping Next Week With A Jet Set New Trailer!

Since its announcement in 2020, this title has been slowly making its way across social media and YouTube with little teasers here and there, however, this newest trailer dropped by Team Reptile really shows off the world of Bomb Rush Cyberfunk and we can really see the influence taken from a previous popular series by Sega.

The newest trailer really kicks in with its draw-dropping visuals and also catchy trailer music, of course, it doesn’t look as sharp and hi-vis as most games we see in 2023, but where this game lacks visual fidelity it makes it up with its style/colour-popping Cel-shaded graphics all accompanied by a slapping soundtrack.

Any fan of the Sega Dreamcast cult classic Jet Set Radio and its popular sequel on the original Xbox Jet Set Radio Future will undoubtedly come to the conclusion that Team Reptile are clearly fans of these games and wanted to continue the legacy in their own way, considering Sega left this franchise back on the Xbox and haven’t revisited it since other than the HD re-releases on some modern consoles.

A game complete with rebel teens, graffiti on the walls, a solid soundtrack to play alongside and a story all wrapped around gangs/rivalries on the streets and the police looking to take you down and what more can you ask for?

Visually this game is very vibrant, and this is usually associated with the classic stylings of Cel-shading, where the original Jet Set Radio was a game that helped pioneer it to other titles some of which include The Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker and the Persona series.

While Sega left the series dormant back in 2002 with its highly rated Jet Set Radio Future releasing on the original Xbox, fans of the series have been desperate for them to re-visit the series and inject new life into it, unfortunately for them, Team Reptile have picked up the slack and got to work releasing a spiritual successor and wanting to close the gap.

Only time will tell when the game drops on August 18th if the title will gain the following and support from previous fans of the Jet Set Radio series considering Bomb Rush Cyberfunk has been developed with Jet Set Radio in mind, which isn’t an uncommon practice in this day and age with Kickstarter projects being supported by fans and companies and original creators wanting to continue unfinished projects and sequels.

With the Legendary composer behind the Jet Set Radio soundtracks Hideki Naganuma very much in place behind the soundtrack on Bomb Rush Cyberfunk so we know from his previous work that the game is in solid hands in regards to what we are likely to be tagging up the streets too.

Considering everything in place lined up to create the game that never was with a potential third outing in the Jet Set Radio series, we cannot help but think this may be the inspiration behind Sega finally pulling one of its most popular titles off the shelf and giving us the long-awaited sequel to this beloved series.

With the characters/maps/music from Jet Set Radio being kept very much alive in the group outing Mario Kart Rival from Sega titled Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing and its sequel Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing Transformed. We were given knowledgeable proof that this franchise and many more are still relevant and it is a simple case of Sega putting a team behind the development of a potential third title in the series.
