The actor has been part of many monumental and long-running franchises, like Indian Jones. LaBeouf made his character debut as Mutt Williams/Henry Jones III, a young, motorcycle-riding greaser in the 2008 American action-adventure film Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

It is the fourth installment in the beloved Harrison Ford-led film series. Despite the stellar cast ensemble and intriguing plot, the movie received mixed reviews, and the Disturbia movie star admitted that the film didn’t live up to the audience’s expectations and partially blamed himself, claiming he did not give his best performance, which is why the project didn’t do well. In a candid interview with LA Times, the 37-year-old star said,

“I feel like I dropped the ball on the legacy that people loved and cherished. You get to monkey-swinging and things like that, and you can blame it on the writer, and you can blame it on Steven [Spielberg, who directed]. But the actor’s job is to make it come alive and make it work, and I couldn’t do it. So that’s my fault. Simple.”

His remarks deeply hurt his idol Ford, after which Shia LeBeouf regretted making bombshell remarks about their film. Steven Spielberg-directed titular film earned mixed reviews from the audience and critics alike. However, the film amassed $790 million at the global box office, making it one of the highest-grossing movies in the Indiana Jones franchise.
