Margot Robbie is turning the world pink with her latest feature Barbie. The movie has not only become one of the biggest hits of the year, but it has also become the biggest movie of the Australian actress’ and Greta Gerwig’s career. It has already crossed the mark of $1 billion at the box office and is soon expected to become the highest-grossing movie of 2023. Fans love Robbie and Ryan Gosling in the lead roles and critics have even deemed it the “best performances” of their careers.

Margot Robbie Wanted Gal Gadot to Lead Barbie

During a recent interview with Vogue, the Barbie star Margot Robbie, who also serves as a producer of the movie, shared that she did not see herself leading the 2023 movie initially. The actress shared that she and Greta Gerwig were looking for “Barbie energy” and found it in Gal Gadot.

“Gal Gadot is Barbie energy,” Robbie said before adding, “Because Gal Gadot is so impossibly beautiful, but you don’t hate her for being that beautiful because she’s so genuinely sincere, and she’s so enthusiastically kind, that it’s almost dorky.”

However, Gadot was not able to star in the movie due to her busy schedule. The actress recently reacted to the news during an interview with Flaunt magazine, saying that she adores the Babylon star and shared that she is grateful for having the top spot on her list.

“I would love to do anything with Margot and was very touched [by her comments]. She warmed my heart with everything that she said about me,” Gadot said during the interview. While both DC stars consider the other best for the role, fans do not seem to think the same, as they have opposed the idea of having the Fast Five actress leading the 2023 movie.

Fans do Not Share the Same Opinion as Margot Robbie

Although Margot Robbie may have found her fellow actress, Gal Gadot, perfect to embody the famous Mattel doll, fans do not agree with her. The lead star of the movie has been praised for heartfelt performance in the film.

Unlike Robbie, fans believe that Gadot would have been the worse for the role, as they wondered how she would have looked with blonde hair. Many even started trolling the actress, saying the filmmakers may have realized that they needed “an actress who can act.” Some even went on to state that the Heart of Stone star is “impossibly overrated,” claiming that Robbie is a better actress than her.

Barbie is currently playing in theatres.
