Naruto had been a long-running series till 2014, with over 500 episodes and 11 movies, it has managed to build a legacy that no anime can even dare to come close to in recent times.
However, something we all can agree on is how this legacy was taken as a joke by the creators themselves with the release of the franchise’s sequel called Boruto: Naruto Next Generations.
With a lightly treaded story and not well-developed characters, there still might be a chance that Boruto can turn out to be something after the recent time skip that fans actually start looking forward to, but that will require a huge sacrifice.

Why Naruto Needs To Go Now
Naruto is no doubt one of the most loved characters around the globe and with many having a special place in their hearts for our hero, it is time we realise he needs to go.
Following the loss of Sasuke’s rinnegan, fans had to witness another departure of their beloved jinchuriki, Kurama, also known as the nine tails. From the audience’s point of perspective, this can be observed as a blatant attempt to take away the power of the stronger character in the series to finally make the show about the character whose name is in the title.
The development of Boruto, and his whole generation of Shinobi as a whole, is something that has been impending since the beginning of the series, and it is time that it is finally delivered to them. One way to do so will be to finally end the shadow of an overpowered Naruto always there to protect them from problems and obstacles, which takes us to the first reason out of six why Naruto needs to finally go.
1. Naruto’s Death Will Force Boruto To Grow Up
Naruto was always shown to be there to protect everybody in times of crisis, whether it is his own show or the one of his son. It leads us to a repetitive cycle where a major villain is introduced, but the powerful duo of Naruto and Sasuke defeats in the end, giving a happy ending to everybody.
His fights against Momoshiki, Kinshiki, and Jigen have proved that there are way too many strong characters already existing in the world, leaving no space for our character to ever develop and grow up.
Naruto’s death will force Boruto to take things to another level as he faces at least some kind of responsibility after his father’s death.

2. It Would Bring More Viewers To The Series
It is no secret at this point that Boruto is nowhere near to catching up to his father’s legacy for now, however, the death of such a major character is sure to bring in the hype, as well as attraction and viewership to the series, which is something it needs direly.
3. Kawaki Will Be Pushed Off The Edge
The franchise of both Naruto and Boruto have seen a lot of enemies just giving up after the main characters just try to talk it out. Also known as the infamous “Talk No Jutsu” has become a little annoying and repetitive considering how often it is used in the series.
However, if Kawaki himself is somehow able to finish off the 7th Hokage himself, it would bring the one true villain the series actually need for once.
4. Plot Armour Will No Longer Be A Thing
A definitive death to Naruto will finally manage to shake things in Boruto. Resurrections have been a common phenomenon in the world of Naruto, however, if they are actually able to pull off a definite death to our hero, it would bring something new to the series, something rarely ever seen before.
5. Naruto’s Death Could Draw More Crowd Than One Piece

Naruto’s death is not a small deal, it is something that is going to break the hearts of millions of fans worldwide, with many protesting against it. Everybody on every platform available on the internet will be talking about the same, and will most definitely be something that brings in internet-breaking viewership.
It is also believed that it will most definitively be something that is able to generate way more hype than what Luffy Gear 5 did, in the end, Naruto’s death is something that goes beyond just a crash of the streaming sites.
6. It Will Be A Shock To The Viewers
While it might sound rough, the Boruto series has not faced any major deaths yet, which is something inevitable in the long run being a shonen-style anime. The departure of someone close to the main character is often used as a source of power up to the protagonist, and Naruto would be unfortunately a perfect fit in this scenario.
It will also bring a shock factor to all the watchers who might have grown adapted to the vanilla Boruto that has been running since the beginning, marking the death as a new chapter in the franchise’s history.
Nonetheless, the path chosen by the creators of the series regarding if they want to take away Naruto or not is something that is needed for the very much-needed development of the characters as well as the story of Boruto.
