But after the assault charges levied on him along with the controversy following, Majors’ continuing involvement with the Marvel Cinematic Universe is said to have been called into question, inviting Washington in the picture.
Meaning, that although Marvel has not released any official statement about replacing Majors for Kang the Conqueror, the odds of the franchise ending up with this decision seem likely, and fans have taken this opportunity to encourage the casting of their favorite $280 million star in his stead.

Jonathan Majors was perfectly cast to play the Marvel comic book character of Kang the Conqueror, and there is no doubt about it. But ever since news about the assault charges surfaced, the actor has been caught up in much controversy.
Adding fuel to the already raging flames, his talent management, as well as PR company, have also reportedly disowned him. That being said, it seems that Marvel might let go of him and replace him with a different actor to play Kang on-screen within little to no time, although the franchise has not released any such statement yet.
Furthermore, with the ongoing frenzy of everything following Majors, MCU fans can’t help but think of other castings to replace him, with Denzel Washington being their top-most choice to play an older version of the comic book character.

As for the movie, The Kang Dynasty‘s release date has been shifted to the 1st of May, 2026 – at the start of the MCU’s Phase 6.
