The recent years haven’t been the most optimal for Late-Night Talk Shows, thanks to the age of Social media, resulting in their ratings plummeting. On top of that, the accusations against the biggies in the game haven’t helped salvage the situation, as after Ellen DeGeneres and James Corden, reports emerged accusing Jimmy Fallon of erratic behavior behind cameras./
Despite being known for maintaining a family-friendly vibe in his shows, a recent report painted Fallon in a very different light when the cameras aren’t rolling, accusing him of fostering a toxic work environment.
Jimmy Fallon Is Unpredictable Claimed Staff Members
Like James McAvoy’s character in Split, in which he comprises many personalities, from being friendly to terrifying, things seem kind of similar for Jimmy Fallon if the allegations are true. Shedding light on the subject, two current and 14 former employees alleged there are “good Jimmy days” and “bad Jimmy days” like McAvoy’s Kevin, and they weren’t sure “which Jimmy we were going to get”.
As per Rolling Stone, one staff alleged that this is why showrunners do not want to stick with The Tonight Show, as it has witnessed nine different showrunners since 2014,
“Everybody walked on eggshells, especially showrunners. You never knew which Jimmy we were going to get and when he was going to throw a hissy fit. Look how many showrunners went so quickly. We know they didn’t last long.”
This isn’t new news in the realm of Late-Night Shows, as previously, reports broke alleging Ellen DeGeneres and James Corden having similar issues.
The Situation Is Embarrassing Says Jimmy Fallon
Instead of treating the delicate situation with silence, Jimmy Fallon came forward to address the allegations, expressing that the whole thing was embarrassing and that he felt bad for it. Per Variety, the host engaged in a Zoom meeting with his fellow employees, apologizing that they had to suffer.
“It’s embarrassing and I feel so bad. Sorry if I embarrassed you and your family and friends. I feel so bad I can’t even tell you. I want this show to be fun, it should be inclusive for everybody, it should be funny, it should be the best show, the best people.”
It’s hard to say to what extent these alleged reports will impact Fallon in the long run, who has been running The Tonight Show for almost a decade, which has been on hiatus following the strike.
