A long ongoing debate in the entire anime community is who is better, Luffy or Naruto? This question has caused a lot of heated conflicts among anime enthusiasts and although both the characters share a lot of resemblance in their storyline, they are totally different. Many people believe that Naruto is better than Luffy because he has already reached his potential.

1. Luffy follows his own path
When compared to Naruto, Luffy will undoubtedly stand out. He follows the traditional shonen model but on his own terms. Unlike Naruto, Luffy is not bound by any village rules or his goal. He wants to be free and that’s why he wants to become the king of the pirates. Naruto’s goal is to become the most powerful person in his village so he can govern it and prosper it. Luffy is not bound by any such goals and is only focused on being free and roaming the seas with his crewmates.
2. Luffy is more True to himself
Both Luffy and Naruto, follow their own path to success and have done what they feel right. But in the case of Naruto, he has to face a lot of moral and ethical dilemmas that may limit his actions and thoughts to a certain direction. Luffy on the other hand is true to himself and does what he feels right. Naruto wants to be a good guy and serve his village, but Luffy doesn’t care about being a good guy. He just acts on what he feels is right and makes decisions accordingly.

If we look at the personalities of Luffy and Naruto, both of them carry that main character personality that attracts other people. But in a sense luffy is more charismatic than Naruto. His ideologies and his actions resonate more with other characters and it forces them to believe in Luffy and accept him as the main character. 4. Luffy is more Independent
As compared to Naruto, Luffy is more independent than him. There are many instances where Naruto has to depend on other characters to help him and get him out of trouble, while Luffy likes to be the man in charge and go directly for the main antagonists. He doesn’t depend much on others for help and develops a sense of reliance on others that he will get the job done no matter what.

Although, this does not capture the correct essence of the question there is no doubt that Luffy is funnier than Naruto. Both animes have a pinch of comic addition to them. Naruto’s comic timings and jokes revolve around him and mostly around him. But Luffy on the other hand is genuinely funny and innocent. Luffy is the center of the joke and he himself is the joker who entertains the audience much more than Naruto.
