His best work, which was also his first ever work that he created by himself, was the Rocky film series, which granted him the breakthrough role he so yearned for to make his Hollywood debut remarkable. While that earned him critical appraisal from audiences worldwide, it also inflated his ego a bit too much at the time: something Stallone is not too proud of.

Sylvester Stallone is renowned for his many action movies, but perhaps the best one is the one that made him a household name in the industry: The Rocky movie series. Appearing at the Toronto Film Festival recently, he talked in detail with The Hollywood Reporter about how he created and developed the beloved character who legit kick-started his career in the industry.

“I just wrote about what I knew. I was writing about this little kind of mentally challenged guy who happened to have a lot of heart,” Stallone said. “I wanted to write a movie about a guy who says ‘I’m not great at all, never will be. I fight great fighters. But I just want the opportunity to go the distance.’”

He also admitted to how at first, no one wanted to do the film series, even though it was the best script he had written to date.

Nonetheless, Sylvester Stallone knew not to back down if he truly wanted to establish his own reputed position in Hollywood, and kept on struggling until he reached his much-desired success.
