Remember 2012? Twilight was already absolutely huge, and the concluding chapter of the vampire saga, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn—Part 2, was scheduled to be released in November. As one of Hollywood’s most bankable actresses, Kristen Stewart was making headlines.
But in the midst of it all, she was gaining the spotlight for her public separation from Robert Pattinson, her co-star in the Twilight movies. Paparazzi photos of the actress having an affair with her director of Snow White and the Huntsman, Rupert Sanders, who was married and even had two children, surfaced in July 2012.
Even a few years after Stewart and Pattinson’s relationship ended, the former still seemed to be thinking about The Batman actor.
Kristen Stewart Would Have Married Robert Pattinson
During her 2019 visit to The Howard Stern Show, Kristen Stewart spoke about her intense love for Robert Pattinson while they were dating. When asked, if she were to marry him, the actress responded:
“I don’t know, I wanted to… yeah, no, I think I’ve never been in…”
Then, after rephrasing his words, Howard Stern again posed the question to the actress:
“If he proposed, you would’ve gotten married?”
The British Academy Film Award-winning actress then revealed:
“I don’t know. I’m not super duper traditionalist, but at the same time, like yeah. Every relationship I’ve ever been in, I thought that was it. I’ve never like casually – maybe one or two, okay, I’m not giving everyone that due. I’ve never really been the most casual person.”
The actress continued, saying that while working on the Twilight movie series with Pattinson, she could not help but fall in love with him at the time. Meanwhile, she was also “self-conscious” that their relationship would come across as fake if they went public:
“It’s so weird actually being honest about this. It’s been so heavily consumed, and I have this fear that people would assume that maybe I’m like… it’s kind of attention-y. ‘Oh cool you are still pushing that narrative’ or whatever and it’s like no, I’ve actually never been able to say what happened because I was so self-conscious about seeming like an attention-seeker.”
Kristen Stewart Discussed the Rupert Sanders Cheating Scandal
Kristen Stewart also talked about her breakup with Robert Pattinson and the cheating scandal involving Rupert Sanders, the director of Snow White and the Huntsman. During her appearance on The Howard Stern Show, the actress, 33, admitted that she has never fully opened up about her relationship with Pattinson as it was “heavily consumed” by the media:
“We were together for years, that was my first [love]. I was super in love with my high school boyfriend. Super f**king in love with him, but me and Rob were a little older and it was just ‘gu gung.’ He’s the best.”
Moreover, she then declared, “I did not f**k him,” in reference to Rupert Sanders, adding that she was aware that when,
“You make out with a dude in public, it definitely looks like you did [have s*x].”
The widely reported cheating scandal was largely credited with Stewart’s denial of reprising her role in Snow White and the Huntsman’s sequel and prequel. She further told Howard Stern (via The Howard Stern Show):
“We lived in a different time then, you know what I mean? I feel like the s**t-shaming that went down was so absurd. And they should’ve put me in that movie! It would’ve been better. Not to be a d**k, but… they didn’t put me in that movie because I went through such a highly publicized scandal, and so they were like scared of touching that.”
The Camp X-Ray actress confirmed to Stern that she has plans to get married one day,
“In no way is that tied to any weird sort of convention, it’s more just like, when you know you know, you know what I mean?”
Since August 2019, Stewart and screenwriter Dylan Meyer have been dating, and in November 2021, the former announced that the two of them were engaged.
On the work front, Kristen Stewart will next be seen in Rose Glass’ upcoming romantic thriller Love Lies Bleeding. It also stars Dave Franco, Jena Malone, and Ed Harris.
