Netflix’s One Piece Live-Action raised the bar for how manga and anime should be adapted into TV shows. It was a resounding success and has already been renewed for a second season by Netflix.
During season one, many fans may have noticed Easter Eggs spread across eight episodes. The show’s co-showrunner, Matt Owens, apparently went out of his way to add these Easter Eggs.
Matt Owens Had a Special Purpose for Adding Easter Eggs in One Piece Live-Action
Prior to One Piece Live-Action, fans never had huge expectations from movie or TV show adaptions of their favorite manga and anime.
However, Matt Owens and co. did a fantastic job of providing fans with a phenomenal season opener of the ever-so-popular series. Owens recently revealed the reason behind including bounty posters as Easter Eggs in a Reddit ‘ask me anything’ session with fans.
Easter eggs were such a fun part of the show! I loved talking to different departments to plant as much as we could. My favorite is probably the bounty posters that fill the world. I looked back at pirates who we know were operating at this time in the story and what their bounties would be. It helps sell other pirates to newcomers and are fun details for fans who know who they are. Not all of the ones we made got shown on screen, so be on the lookout for more next season!
So, fellow One Piece fans, be sure to be on the lookout for more bounty posters placed neatly in the background during season 2 of the series.
One Piece Showrunner Promises to Work Hard on Season Two
Making a good pilot season for any show is usually full of challenges for any show creator. But when it comes to One Piece Live-Action, it was seemingly a Herculean task for Matt Owens.
After all, Eichora Oda’s manga series has remained at the top of the popularity charts for more than two decades. The series has millions of loyal followers, and they expect nothing less than perfection from the Netflix show.
The series currently has a 95% certified fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes from more than 10,000 reviews. In addition, it is rated 8.4/10 on IMDb.
Riding high on the success, Matt Owens promised fans to work hard on the second season of the series. In fact, he promised to make the upcoming season even better than the pilot.
Can Owens fulfill his promise to the One Piece fanbase? So far, there’s no reason for fans to doubt him. But let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best possible future for the franchise.
