The Marvels has been building up a lot of anticipation around itself for many reasons, one of the biggest being that fact that we get to see Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel, and Monica Rambeau. It has also been hyping an extremely interesting storyline and a highly anticipated villain, Dar-Benn. With the release of the film being right around the corner, scheduled to hit the theaters on 10th November, there have been a series of new trailers that have been released in order to hype up the film all the more.
In one of the most recent of its kind, there was a line dropped by the Mad Titan, Thanos himself, that hinted at the return of someone who could finish his mission for him. This can’t help but make us wonder who one of the most powerful villains seen in the MCU, to this date, could be hinting at. The first person who pops into mind, who was oddly absent from both Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame, is Supergiant, a member of Thanos’ Black Order.

What Did The Recent Trailer of The Marvels Tease?
In the new teaser of The Marvels, Thanos’s character was heard in the background, saying something that was completely unheard of until now, with these being words that he had never said before in his previous appearances in the MCU. The Mad Titan spoke along the lines of the fact that there would be many who would be willing to finish the mission that he was unable to do. While many look at this as a hint that his character would be making a return to the franchise, this does not seem very credible.
“There will always be more to finish my work.” said Thanos
There are many reasons for this, including the fact that this would feel like a cheap return considering all that was lost in order to defeat him, as well as the fact that this would be a misinterpretation of what his character was saying in this trailer. His character does not state that he will be returning to complete his mission, rather, he states that someone else is out there, who would be willing and wanting to finish his mission for him. This can help our speculations and interpretations point to the character of Supergiant, who is notoriously an extreme follower of Thanos in the comics and was oddly missing from the films.
Who Is Supergiant?
Supergiant is a part of Thanos’s Black Order, a group of lethal aliens, that act as generals in Thanos’s mission. Many characters from this group managed to make their way into the Marvel Cinematic Universe itself, with Ebony Maw being famously referred to as ‘Squidward’ by Tony Stark, as well as Wanda Maximoff and Vision being attacked by Proxima Midnight and Corvus Glaive in Avengers: Infinity War.
While these characters were seen in the films and quickly defeated Supergiant ended up not making an appearance in this saga at all, which upset quite a lot of fans and almost felt suspicious, considering how odd this detail was. She is a mentally unstable omnipath and telepathic parasite, who craves intellect, only to consume and devouver it. In many versions of her character, she ends up being the last surviving child of the Mad Titan, making her perfect to fulfill her father’s life’s mission.
