Jujutsu Kaisen has given the fans what they have been longing for so long. Gege Akutami has created a story with great characters, a mind-blowing plot, with mind-bending twists that no one saw coming. The story is shifting gears at every possible corner, and the fans are thoroughly enjoying every bit of it. But one of the things that seem to be missed out is the numerous mysteries that are yet to be revealed.
One of the most interesting mysteries surrounding Jujutsu Kaisen is that Yuji Itadori could control Ryomen Sukuna with ease. Ryomen Sukuna is the King of Curses, yet he ate one of his cursed fingers and could control it. Even though there has been no proper answer to this mystery, it might be due to Yuji Itadori’s strong emotions towards his close ones.
How Could Yuji Itadori Control Ryomen Sukuna?
At the beginning of Jujutsu Kaisen, Yuji Itadori was a normal boy with no Cursed Energy. But sudden situations led him to swallow one of the Cursed Fingers of Ryomen Sukuna, the King of Curses, to save his friends. After that, for a brief time, Sukuna took over his body, but later Yuji Itadori could easily control. Then came Gojo Satoru and asked Yuji to change places with Sukuna, and they had a little brawl.
Other than that, Yuji Itadori was able to subdue Sukuna throughout Jujutsu Kaisen. One of the more exciting things is that Yuji ate multiple Cused Fingers, yet he never let Sukuna get complete control of his body. It led to the popular belief that strong curses could be controlled by a strong will or emotions towards protecting the close ones.
Yuji Itadori could control Ryomen Sukuna because most of the time, he was along with his friends. If he let the King of Curses take over his body, he could go on a rampage. This strong feeling towards protecting others is the power to subdue strong curses. Moreover, Yuji and Sukuna later came under a contract to not hurt Yuji’s close friends. For the moment, it is just a speculation. Until Gege Akutami confirms it or reveals the real reason, it will remain a rumor.
Other Incidents of Subduing Strong Curses In Jujutsu Kaisen
There are not many examples of Jujutsu sorcerers subduing strong curses other than Yuji Itadori. But there was a brief moment with Kenjaku and Suguru Geto. During the Shibuya Incident arc, when Kenjaku revealed his true self to Gojo Satoru, Gojo Satoru tried to make a plea to Suguru Geto. It was at that moment that Suguru Geto showed his strong emotions towards Gojo Satoru and tried to strangle Kenjaku.

Kenjaku was left puzzled as to why Suguru Geto’s body was able to do that. Kenjaku is known as the most infamous sorcerer in Jujutsu history. So, subduing him is not a matter of joke. Suguru Geto overcoming his strong emotions is another incident that makes it viable that strong emotions can help in subduing strong curses. Gege Akutami had mentioned that they do not think much. Instead, they let the story go on at its own pace, and they will take action according to it.
Gege Akutami has a unique style of writing. So, these could just be normal incidents that hold no real meaning. Nevertheless, they are great at foreshadowing things. Even though these are speculations, they provide entertainment to the fans until Gege Akutami starts to reveal every Jujutsu Kaisen mystery.
