Margot Robbie starred as Sharon Tate, a real-life actress and wife of director Roman Polanski in Quentin Tarantino‘s Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood. Despite limited dialogues and less screen time, the actress earned widespread praise for her portrayal.

During an interview with Vogue, the actress revealed how she was a big fan of the director and wanted to write him a letter once she was ‘good enough’.

“I’ve always been a huge—huge—Tarantino fan. I love his movies. Love them.”

She finally felt she was good enough for the director after having watched the first cut of her movie, I, Tonya.

“So I wrote him and said, ‘I adore your films, and I would love to work with you in some capacity. Or any capacity.'”

Apparently, Tarantino had just finished writing the script of their 2019 movie and was being asked by his friends already if he would be casting Robbie for the role of Tate. And so to get her letter was a spooky enough coincidence that ended up convincing him to contact the actress. Soon enough, she was on his kitchen table, reading the script for over four hours.

Before they began working together, the #MeToo movement was at a surge, when Tarantino and actress Uma Thurman‘s feud was brought up to the public. Margot Robbie, who started her own female-driven production company, was criticized by some fans for her morality as a known feminist.

However, the actress defended herself during her talk with Vogue, revealing that she too was apprehensive about the project but seeing Tarantino accepting his mistake, apologizing, and being transparent about his and Thurman’s relationship helped her decide to work with him.

“But the thought definitely crossed my mind, like, Will people view this decision as conflicting with what I’m doing on the producing side?”

She then added on,
