Recently, Modern Warfare 3 was released, and so far, the gaming community has already taken to social media to slam the game and all of its different modes, whether it be the campaign, multiplayer, or zombies.
Due to this recent negativity towards Modern Warfare 3, Sledgehammer Games has taken to Reddit with an AMA (ask me anything) to try and answer some of the questions that the community has regarding the future of the game and whether certain issues or modes will be tweaked in the future.
One of the main questions that has been asked by the gaming community is regarding skill-based matchmaking, also known as SBMM. Unfortunately, there have been a few issues regarding the questions that have been asked, as Sledgehammer doesn’t seem to want to answer these rather reasonable questions.
What Is SBMM, and Why Is the Gaming Community Asking Sledgehammer Games About It?
For those who may not be aware, SBMM is a feature that is mainly used within competitive games like Call Of Duty to try and help the matchmaking be a bit fairer in regards to the matchups. The way this system works is by measuring the skill of each player and attempting to fit them into lobbies that have players of a similar skill level.
This would mean that players who have only just picked up the game and are still rather new would appear in lobbies with other new players. Or players who have been playing the game since release and have the best weapons and skills would also be paired with other players who have the same skills and upgraded weapons.
Sadly, this system doesn’t seem to be fully calibrated at the moment, as many members of the Call Of Duty community have already taken to numerous social media outlets to complain about the SBMM system and how it is affecting their enjoyment of the game.
Understandably, Modern Warfare 3 is still a relatively new game and will still be working out the kinks regarding the SBMM system, and Sledgehammer is most likely working on a patch to try and tweak this system so that it better defines a good player and a poor or new player.
Although Sledgehammer is more than likely working hard to ensure a steady pace for gamers to enjoy the game, there are already some who are struggling to compete as they go from a casual gaming experience to feeling like they are fighting for a $1 million prize in a tournament, which leads to many gamers dropping the game entirely.
Why Are Sledgehammer Games Ignoring the Questions Posed to Them by the Gaming Community?
When it comes to AMAs, there are some questions that a company like Sledgehammer has to avoid, and there are many reasons for this. One main reason is just the simple fact that they do not have an answer to give at this current time, as there may still be some decisions being made by the higher-ups.
Another reason could be that the person who is currently answering the questions in the AMA may not have been made aware of what answer they are allowed to give during this period. This will lead to many gamers getting very annoyed, and for a very valid reason, as they feel they are being ignored.
So far, there have been many members of the Modern Warfare 3 community who have already taken to Reddit to ask the question as to whether or not SBMM will either be tweaked or removed entirely from the casual playlist and have even asked this question within a long list of questions.
To the shock of many members of the gaming community, their other questions have been answered, but the SBMM question has been entirely ignored and even removed from the responses they have received, which understandably has angered them more than receiving a blank statement of whether or not it is being looked into or not.
Until further notice, SBMM will still be active within Modern Warfare 3, and there has been no announcement to explain what is happening with it. But once an announcement has been made, there will either be a lot of happiness or anger from the Modern Warfare 3 community.
