Given the basis of the energy system, Gege Akutami’s manga is filled with sorcerers who possess the instinct to kill opponents in battle. Yet, a certain comedic character doesn’t have the ability to eliminate opponents despite possessing a potent cursed technique.
Jujutsu Kaisen has introduced several characters in its manga that possess formidable cursed energy techniques: from Gojo’s ability to manipulate space with the Limitless technique to Mahoraga’s summoning ability with the Ten Shadows. Fumihiko Takaba is also a part of the list. The side character whose jokes weren’t taken seriously by the viewers is now attracting attention.
Takaba would’ve instantly risen to the A-tier after revealing his special cursed technique in Chapter 240. Unfortunately, Gege Akutami has tweaked his ability to a great extent.

Fumihiko Takaba Has An Exceptionally Strong Cursed Technique In Jujutsu Kaisen
A failing comedian turned into a sorcerer by Kenjaku for the Culling Games, Fumihiko Takaba has the most goofy yet deadly cursed technique in Jujutsu Kaisen. He can manifest his comedic thoughts into reality and the technique can affect both the user and the opponent. The extent of his abilities has also left fans bewildered.
The Comedian seems to have an extensive range. Fumihiko Takaba manifested a sea into a can of Fanta, making Kenjaku laugh with such a weird manifestation, and even participated in a Q&A session with the sorcerer. Chapter 242 teased their ‘final battle’ to be a stand-up comedy challenge with both sorcerers prepping themselves to face an imaginative audience.
Despite the hilariousness that surrounded their battle, Jujutsu Kaisen readers noted that Takaba’s abilities had two strong advantages. The comedian could manifest himself to be stronger than the opponent albeit with a funny twist. Moreover, the Comedian technique makes opponents uneasy before they eventually start playing into its joviality and thus lower their guard in the process.
In a world full of fearsome cursed techniques, Fumihiko Takaba’s Comedian ability is a standout in Jujutsu Kaisen. The user channels his negative emotions into a mirthful manifestation. Despite all the games, it is revealed in Chapter 243 that Takaba was luring Kenjaku into a trap and was serious throughout the battle.

The Major Flaw Of The ‘Comedian’ Cursed Energy Technique
The summary for Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 243 has been leaked online, four days prior to the official release of the manga. The next chapter will continue the stand-up comedy battle between Kenjaku and Fumihiko Takaba and also give an insight into the latter’s powers. Interestingly, Chapter 243 will also be Kenjaku’s last dance as a villain.
As per leaks, Takaba was playing as a distraction for Kenjaku so that Yuta Itadori could sneak into the battle and eliminate the villain. The ‘Comedian’ user also revealed that his cursed energy technique didn’t have the means to kill anyone. It is a fatal flaw in an otherwise supremely useful technique although the highlight of Jujutsu Kaisen has always been teamwork and strategy.

Fumihiko Takaba is the perfect side character for Gege Akutami. Not only does he naturally fit in as someone who could shift the odds in the heroes’ favor but also someone who doesn’t overshadow main characters such as Yuta. He cannot take a life but can create openings for others who can commit evil deeds.
Another disadvantage of the Comedian Cursed Energy Technique is that the user needs to believe in themselves in order to manifest things into reality. Takaba hasn’t struggled with his powers so far but the flaw that was revealed in Chapter 240 could be problematic in the future.
