It was back in 2009 when Chan stated in the Boao Forum that “Chinese [people] need to be controlled”. Well, these comments caused a lot of controversies surrounding the actor, and his ties with several movies were shattered.

“I’m not sure if it’s good to have freedom or not. I’m really confused now. If you’re too free, you’re like the way Hong Kong is now. It’s very chaotic. Taiwan is also chaotic. I’m gradually beginning to feel that we Chinese need to be controlled. If we are not being controlled, we’ll just do what we want. If we are not being controlled, we’ll just do what we want.”

That comment did have some consequences but Chan was eventually forgiven by the world. The actor is currently busy with his upcoming movies with several iconic projects like Rush Hour 4, Untitled Karate Kid Project, and, Kung Fu Panda 4 in the works.
