As the latest episode aired recently fans were finally able to see Kento Nanami’s death scene with the release of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 18. Following the last episode, it was clear that Nanami would be the main focus of this episode, and fans already anticipated that this might be his last episode. The scenes that are exclusive to the anime and the contrast between Nanami’s dreams and reality make his death far more heartbreaking than it is in the manga.
The fandom of Jujutsu Kaisen is inconsolable over Nanami’s passing as they have been expressing their emotions on social media since his death. Jujutsu Kaisen season two gave Nanami a very beautiful and heartfelt farewell, thanks to the animators at MAPPA.
A layer of emotionally charged profundity is added to the story by viewers’ deep connections with Nanami’s sacrifice made in defense of his loved ones. While many people honor Nanami’s passing on the internet, others discovered on Google Maps that someone created a Kento Nanami Memorial Shrine in Kuantan.
Kento Nanami Bids Farewell To Jujutsu Kaisen
Jujutsu Kaisen’s Nanami has long been a beloved character among the audience. When he last made an appearance in the series, half of his upper torso was burnt away following Jogo’s attack. Feeling the need to save Megumi from the resurrected Toji and find Maki and Naobito, Nanami decided to press on despite only having half of his torso and a tired body.
After being burned alive, he began to walk in Shibuya while picturing himself strolling along a sandy beach in Kuantan, Malaysia. While imagining himself on the beach, he came across innumerable transfigured humans and began destroying them.
When he eliminates the last of them, Mahito intervenes. Simultaneously, Yuji arrives where Nanami is fighting the disfigured humans. Nanami wishes him an emotional farewell before Mahito blows him to bits. This farewell was probably one of the most emotional goodbyes the anime world has ever seen, which was quite evident by Yuji’s actions and later was shown in the emotions fans expressed for their favorite character’s demise.
Nanami’s Superfan Makes a Kento Nanami Memorial Shrine on Google Maps
While fans already knew about the upcoming demise of Kento Nanami, it did not help in any way as fans were extremely disheartened and sad to see their favorite character leave the series. Nanami’s death was truly an emotional breakdown for the fans as they exclusively expressed it on social media.
However, one fan took it to extreme heights as he marked a memorial shrine as “Kento Nanami Memorial Shrine” on Google Maps which resulted in fans paying their respects for the character’s death. The memorial shrine, titled “Nanami Kento Memorial”, is situated by the Pantai Kempadang beach, in 25050 Kuantan, Pahang, Malaysia. It has 75 reviews and most of them are fans offering their respects to Nanami.
Nanami’s death has truly shaken fans harder than expected and rightfully so, as the character was able to make such a huge impact on the fans despite not being the main character of the series.
