Ryan Gosling has dabbled in various genres in the industry and has shown his incredible range as an actor. The actor is considered one of the best actors of his generation and has always pushed himself every time to show a side of himself that audiences have never seen. Early in his career, he even tried his hand at a TV series, but it didn’t work out in the way he had hoped.

It seems Gosling auditioned to be in the hit comedy-drama series Gilmore Girls. Casting director Jami Rudofsky recalled the time when the actor impressed him with his commitment early on. However, when he auditioned for the role of a footballer in the show, his performance fell flat and he missed out on being in the show. Rudofsky told Vulture,

“This guy [Gosling] came in, and he was late, and I rolled my eyes because he was late, and he was blonde. I thought he was giving attitude — what I didn’t realize was that he was in character. He did the audition, and it was one of the most amazing auditions that I’ve ever seen.

And I am talking him up. I’m like, ‘Amy [Sherman-Palladino], guys, he’s the best actor. I’m telling you; he is amazing.’ So, he came in, I think it was a football character. I don’t even remember… He auditioned, and it kind of fell flat. And Amy was like, ‘Really, Jami?”

Gosling wouldn’t have done films like The Notebook which made him a household name if he had committed to the show. Needless to say, the fact that he missed out on being on the show turned out to be in his favor.

Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling starred as Barbie and Ken in the year’s most successful film Barbie. With the film getting a lot of awards buzz, the stars recently attended the Gotham Awards that was held recently. Robbie talked to Entertainment Tonight about the film and revealed one scene that still makes her laugh when thinking about it.

The actress pointed out the scene where her character approaches Gosling’s Ken and accepts his offer of being his girlfriend. Ken then excuses himself and out of happiness, yells out “Sublime!” This was purely Gosling’s improvisation and Robbie herself did not expect that reaction from the actor. She said,

“It’s tricky because watching it on screen is one thing, but being there for the scene was a different thing. The one that I always — It was one line that Ryan improvised on the day. When he yells out ‘sublime.’ I wasn’t prepared for that, that wasn’t in the script, and to this day, that makes me laugh,”

Both actors have been nominated for acting awards at various upcoming award events. It remains to be seen whether they manage to nab some of them. The duo are also attached to star in an Ocean’s Eleven prequel film.
