But while the veteran star was associated with different renowned movies, one film that he couldn’t associate his name with was Sylvester Stallone’s Rambo. Although the actor was hired to play Stallone’s army trainer in the movie, the role didn’t quite work out for Kirk Douglas. Therefore, the actor apparently quit the movie, mid-filming.
Kirk Douglas was Sought for a Role in Rambo

Eventually, through the process, things didn’t work out quite well for the Oscar nominee.
Kirk Douglas Quit Sylvester Stallone’s Movie
Accrued credits in all sorts of genres during his timeless career, from romance movies to drama movies, Kirk Douglas was often sought for important roles. However, according to a report from The New York Times, it was Sylvester Stallone’s Rambo that hired the actor for a rather small cameo. However, despite limited screen time, Douglas accepted the role in the film.
Lined up for limited screen time, Kirk Douglas would have played Sylvester Stallone‘s army trainer in the movie. Unfortunately, Rambo couldn’t feature his name, as the legendary actor quit the project mid-filming. As per reports, Douglas quit Stallone’s movie due to differences in opinion after they made drastic changes to his scenes.
When Rambo was being filmed, it suffered problematic shooting, like many other projects. Thus, although Kirk Douglas was all set for his role, his scenes were messed up and ultimately cut quite drastically. This particularly enraged the veteran actor, which forced him to quit the project, mid-filming. Leaving the job right then and there, never to return, Douglas’ role went to Richard Crenna.
