The Shibuya Incident Arc has been one of the best arcs of 2023. There were a lot of expectations and hype surrounding season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen, mostly due to the arc having a significant effect on the whole plot. The MAPPA crisis worried the fans for a second, but ultimately, the season came out as one of the best.
Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 was a rollercoaster ride of emotions for the fans. Initially, it began with a funny and lighthearted tone, but everything changed once the Shibuya Incident arc commenced. Dead bodies upon dead bodies made it one of the darkest arcs, reminding the fans of the likes of Chainsaw Man. But just when they thought it could not get any worse, Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 was announced, and it will be based on the Culling Games. Spoilers ahead!
Jujutsu Kaisen Characters Still Have More Sufferings Left
The Jujutsu Kaisen fandom thought that the darkest phase was over with the Shibuya Incident arc, but they hardly knew that it was nothing but the beginning. More than the fans, the characters have tons of suffering left, both mentally and physically. The season 2 finale finally revealed Kenjaku’s plan to bring back the Golden Era of Jujutsu. He brought back powerful Cursed Spirits and sorcerers from different eras through the humans he placed a seal upon.
After that, the Culling Games arc will start, where the cursed spirits and the jujutsu sorcerers will tear each other apart. It is a survival game, and the players have to kill other players in order to gain points. After reaching a certain point, they can add their own rules. Apart from the physical stress of constant fighting, there is the mental stress of people dropping like flies. Mai Zen’in and the whole Zen’in Clan, Tsumiki Fushiguro, Yuki Tsukumo, etc., will follow Nanami Kento.
There will no longer be any fun or stress-free segments. Yuji Itadori will become more rational, his smile will disappear, and Yuta Okkotsu will take a much more significant role. New characters like Hana Kurusu, Hiromi Higuruma, Kinji Hakari, etc., will also make their debut. Moreover, there would be no Gojo Satoru to protect them, and with each moment, the fans and the characters will experience impending pressure.
More on Jujutsu Kaisen
The Shibuya Incident arc was like a sunset, where the light was slowly disappearing. The Culling Games arc will be like a New Moon night. Jujutsu Kaisen characters will feel the wrath of darkness and suffering as the number of villains increases with time. The Shibuya Incident arc was dark, with several fan-favourite characters dying and the Honoured One getting sealed, but it was not the end since more is yet to come.
The antagonists of season 2 are gone and will be replaced by more powerful villains. But before the Culling Games begin, Itadori’s Extermination arc will happen, where the fans will see the sorcerers hunt Yuji due to him being Ryomen Sukuna’s vessel. Gojo will be branded as a criminal, and Principal Masasmichi Yaga will also be executed. In simpler words, while Gojo is trapped inside the Prison Realm, the fans and the characters will be trapped inside the darkest realm with Jujutsu Kaisen in season 3.
