Gege Akutami knows how to deal emotional damage to his fans with his manga, Jujutsu Kaisen. Since chapter 236, fans of the series have been traumatized. Satoru Gojo was victorious in his battle with Ryomen Sukuna, The King of Curses. However, the victory soon turned into a horror show as it transitioned into his gruesome death. As the Honored One was near the end of his life, he started to meet his deceased friends one by one.
Following his defeat against Sukuna, it looks like the return of Gojo Satoru is imminent as Gege Akutami has been dropping hints since Jujutsu Kaisen’s Chapter 236. Moreover, it looks like The Strongest Jujutsu Sorcerer will not make his return before 2 chapters as there are a couple of things that fans have failed to notice in the manga.

Gege Akutami Drops Hints on Gojo Satoru’s Return in Jujutsu Kaisen
Out of all the deaths featured in Jujutsu Kaisen, the demise of Satoru Gojo was the least expected by the fandom of the series. The man who claimed himself to be the strongest of all in heaven and Earth met his end. In his final moments, Gojo met his friends. He first meets Geto and talks about his battle with Sukuna, admitting, he was stronger than he had anticipated him to be. Gradually, he met all his friends whom he had lost along the way.
While Chapter 236 remains to be the most gut-wrenching chapter of all, it drops hints in plain sight, which many fans had missed. As Jujutsu Kaisen fans remember, Gojo’s final moments were in an airport, where he had the choice to go south or go north, that is, choosing salvation or choosing life. The plane will take him to the afterlife. Nevertheless, fans never saw the plane leave the airport. Hence, the final scene is open-ended and left for interpretation, and the plane not leaving the airport most likely marks his imminent return to the series.
Moreover, a user by the name of baeli (@BIGDADDYGOJO) has shared a post on X, which showcases a blurred picture from an editor interview, stating “I don’t think he’ll return in the next 2 chapters—but Gege has been leaving hints since 236,” adding that this is where he decides to go “North.”
“If it’s Gojo in the airport, then he’s not returning”

While anything is not confirmed yet, the panel showcases that Gojo is in a state of limbo, where he is unsure of what to do. However, the return is imminent as he can heal from any injury. Moreover, his strong bond with Geto would make him want to return as he would prefer to bury his friend properly and stop Kenjaku from violating his body.
Gojo’s Search For Power Leads To His Tragic Death
In the Jujutsu Kaisen world, Gojo is heavily relying on his sorcery skills to overcome his foes. His narcissistic identity comes from being the strongest Jujutsu Sorcerer, which was also outlined by his best friend Geto in an iconic line, “Are you Satoru Gojo because you’re the strongest, or are you the strongest because you’re Satoru Gojo?”
Tragically, The Honored One struggles to find a reason to live beyond seeking greater strength, and he dedicated his life to proving his strength through fighting foes, and that ultimately became the cause of his humiliating death.

In a strange turn of events, it can be said that Gojo’s death was the cause of his lack of connections, and how he failed to find true happiness in this world, hence, he failed to accomplish what he chose to live for. In addition to Satoru Gojo’s death being tragic, it was also intertwined with Geto because of their connection with each other.
His death against Ryomen Sukuna was unsatisfying as Geto wasn’t there to support him or anyone with whom he had a connection. Sadly, he lived to be the strongest and died alone against the King of Curses.
