Heaven Can Wait is a redo of the 1941 fantasy/comedy Here Comes Mr. Jordan. The original starred Robert Montgomery as boxer Joe Pendleton and Claude Rains as Mr. Jordan.

In 2001, Harry Segall’s Heaven Can Wait was remade as Down to Earth, featuring Chris Rock. Interestingly, it has no connection to the 1947 film Down to Eartha kind of sequel to Here Comes Mr. Jordan. 

Besides starring, Rock also wrote and executive produced the 2001 flick. As per the IMDb Trivia, the Rustin star was inspired to remake Heaven Can Wait because:

“After he heard that Muhammad Ali originally pursued to star in that movie. Rock then thought that Richard Pryor would have been great in the role and changed the main character into an African-American comedian.”

Despite being inspired by a hit film, Chrissy’s comedy fantasy Down to Earth didn’t fare well. Now, as he gears up to direct the remake of Another Round, fans are concerned that history might repeat itself with disappointing results.

What Do We Know About The Remake Another Round So Far?

The remake of Another Round is an Appian Way and Makeready production for the Fifth Season. Jennifer Davisson and Leonardo DiCaprio are producing for Appian Way, while Brad Weston and Collin Creighton handle production for Makeready.

Bloomberg penned a draft, and they’re bringing in a new writer to collaborate with Chris Rock. The Hollywood actor is focusing on directing, taking on the Universal-based adaptation of King: A Life (based on the Jonathan Eig book about Martin Luther King Jr.).

On top of that, he’s working on an untitled script that Peter Rice is producing. To those who are unknown, Rock made his directorial debut in 2003 with the political satire Head of State.
