Gamers are still eagerly awaiting Elden Ring‘s first DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, and each day they are getting more restless waiting for the release trailer to finally drop. What makes gamers even more excited is the fact that FromSoftware is constantly teasing the upcoming release in ways only a few extreme fans would notice.
Recently, there has been an addition to Steam files and SteamDB, as files have recently been added that are titled DLC. This will be FromSoftware’s way of pre-loading the files into the game so that the DLC is already within the game and downloaded by many players, but this now has many gamers wondering: will we get the DLC sometime soon?
Steam Files Have Been Updated With Plenty of DLC Content for Elden Ring, and Gamers Are Excited.
At the moment, gamers are keeping an eye on Elden Ring as it has been released for almost 2 years now, and gamers are waiting for more content to jump into. This isn’t the first time that players have waited for FromSoftware to finally bring out some DLC content, and they are hoping that we don’t suffer like we have in the past.
According to Twitter/X user Ziostorm, the files on Steam and SteamDB have been updated by FromSoftware with plenty of DLC content that they are hoping will be released sometime soon, as this is rather interesting timing.
With the tease of these updated files, gamers are under the impression that there is a chance for Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree to have a shadow drop sometime in the near future. This is because many gamers who already have the game downloaded have downloaded a rather large update recently that could be teasing quality-of-life changes before the final update is brought upon us.
Along with this update, gamers are looking at the time period between how long it took for Bloodborne to receive its DLC, and back then it only took a few months, but now Elden Ring is such a larger and more detailed project and would require a lot more time and work to create it.
How Big Will the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC Be, According to These Files?
So far, these files are kept a mystery from the gaming community; even the names are kept a secret, as they are mainly referred to as PD, with a number after it depending on the file that is in question.
This would lead us to assume that each of these files that follow one after another is connected to certain aspects of the game. For example, one of these files could be associated with the weapons that will be coming in the game, one could be associated with the enemies that are included, or they could just be a part of the NPCs that could be encountered in the game.
Because of this, we can assume that FromSoftware is getting prepared to drop the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC very soon, especially since each of these files dropped roughly at the same time, and this is usually what happens when a developer is looking to release content without having such a large amount of content to download at one time.
Currently, we do not know whether or not these files are related or not, as they could just be quality-of-life updates for Elden Ring, and we may not see the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC for many more months, but if this file drop is for Shadow of the Erdtree, then we could look forward to more Elden Ring content very soon.
