Almost two years ago, Hollywood star Chris Hemsworth revealed that he carries two copies of the APOE4 gene, suggesting that he has a greater chance of developing Alzheimer’s disease. The revelation was made when he underwent genetics for the National Geographic docuseries Limitless.
While he hasn’t received any diagnosis related to this, speculation arose that the Thor actor might be contemplating retirement. While addressing these rumors and specualtions, Hemsworth recently expressed his frustration, affirming that he has no plans to exit Hollywood in the near future.

In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, the Marvel star expressed his disappointment and frustration with rumors of his supposed departure from acting. Chris Hemsworth acknowledged that the news regarding his genetic predisposition was alarming.
However, he also clarified that it was not a diagnosis but rather a marker of risk, and the revelation coincidentally coincided with his planned time off. He further expressed his frustration with the misinterpretation of the situation. Despite his repeated attempts to clarify the situation, the narrative persisted.
“It really kind of pissed me off because it felt like I had been vulnerable with something personal and shared this — No matter how much I said ‘This is not a death sentence,’ the story became that I have dementia and I’m reconsidering life and retiring and so on.”
Despite that, the Extraction star found amusement in the situation, recounting a humorous comment he encountered amidst the media storm. “I did read a really funny comment at the bottom of one article: ‘I hope Chris forgets he’s retiring and comes back,” he said.
As he made it clear that he does not have any plans to retire or leave the film industry, Hemsworth also expressed his eagerness to broaden his acting horizons, revealing aspirations to venture beyond the action genre and collaborate with filmmakers such as Steven Spielberg and Christopher Nolan.

Chris Hemsworth has enjoyed a prosperous career starring in superhero franchises like the MCU and has made a name for himself with action movies like Extraction. However, in his recent interview, he revealed that he has turned down some big action movies as there “wasn’t a solid script.”
Hemsworth suggested that he is seeking opportunities to showcase his versatility as an actor, as he expressed his aspirations to be noticed and taken seriously by some of the esteemed filmmakers like Christopher Nolan, Greta Gerwig, Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, and Kathryn Bigelow.
Interestingly, one of these filmmakers, Spielberg, expressed interest in casting Hemsworth in his adaptation of Daniel H. Wilson’s Robopocalypse. However, despite Spielberg’s admiration for the actor, the project has seen little progress since the director’s initial intent to collaborate with the Marvel star.
