In the vast plain landscape of the gaming industry, there are only a few directors who can deliver some real flavor to those who long for it, and one of them is Hidetaka Miyazaki, the president of FromSoftware and a renowned director known for his work in the Dark Fantasy genre of video games.
Except for the insane level of difficulty that is often found in his creations, what makes fans patiently wait for his next release is the well-curated storylines. Additionally, there has been a running debate about which game of his is truly able to capture the idea the director planned to go after, and the answer to this by Miyazaki himself is sure to get on the nerves of every Xbox and PC player.
“I Did It My Way” – Hidetaka Miyazaki And His Favourite Game, Bloodborne
Bloodborne is a title that came out back in 2015 and has unfortunately remained exclusive to Sony’s PlayStation ever since its launch. Fans have been further dreading for years the absence of a sequel, or at least a remake of the game, a reasonable expectation bearing in mind PlayStation 5 with advanced graphics is now a thing. Discussing how it is his favorite title to date, Hidetaka Miyazaki revealed via GameSpot why the game stays close to his heart-
“If I were to say which one stayed in my heart, it’s Bloodborne. It is what most struck me. I believe I did it my way, the way I wanted it”
To have a better understanding of Miyazaki’s attachment to the game, one needs to know how the director essentially gave up the lead directing position in Dark Souls 2, his beloved trilogy, just so he could channel his focus to Bloodborne. Unfortunately, as stated before, the title remains locked inside Sony’s gaming platform, with Xbox and PC players having no definite way of obtaining and experiencing the title for themselves.
Likewise, those who have managed to get their hands on a PlayStation console somehow and have played the game should have no hard time understanding why the director would consider it one of his finest pieces of work yet. This is also the reason why many have been longing for another installment to the franchise, and the dream might just come true as Hidetaka Miyazaki is about to have a lot of free time on his hands.
Bloodborne 2 – Will Hidetaka Miyazaki Finally Give Fans What They Want?
Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC is scheduled to be the next big thing in the world of FromSoftware, however, after its release on 21st June 2024, there will be a big gap inevitably left for the studio and the director to fill in time. Miyazaki has already confirmed via a Chinese outlet, Campfire Camp, how SotE would practically be the first and only DLC Elden Ring ever gets, meaning he now has the time to come up with something new, or potentially visit an old franchise with the vision of bringing it to life once again.
Many are hoping that this franchise would be of Bloodborne, as it has been abandoned for way too long at this point. Additionally, it would also be acceptable if Miyazaki brought back Dark Souls 4 instead, with the blend of some new elements and mix-ups this time around.
