Chainsaw Man Part 2 shifted gears when they started featuring Asa Mitaka, the host of the War Devil, Yoru. The second part follows the Academy saga and focuses mostly on the high school life of Denji, the main character, and his potential love life with Asa Mitaka. However, things are not always as easy as they should be in Chainsaw Man.
The War Devil’s main goal is to find the Chainsaw Devil and take revenge on him. But Asa and Yoru initially do not know that Denji is the Chainsaw Man, and they have some other plans for him. However, Asa develops feelings for Denji but cannot confess them because of Yoru’s ulterior motive of turning Denji into a weapon.
A Chainsaw Man fan found a striking resemblance between the stories of Asa and Denji and Miyuki Shirogane and Kaguya Shinomiya from Kaguya-sama: Love Is War. They posted it online, which attracted a lot of other fans who shared their opinions on the same.
The Similarities Between Chainsaw Man Part 2 and Kaguya-sama: Love is War
Although it might be a little difficult to understand, Part 2 of Chainsaw Man, especially the Dating Denji arc, is quite similar to the plot of Kaguya-sama: Love is War by Aka Akasaka. Kaguya-sama: Love is War follows the story of Miyuki Shirogane, the president of Shuchiin Academy’s student council, and the vice president, Kaguya Shinomiya.
In Kaguya-sama: Love is War, both Kaguya and Miyuki have feelings for each other, but they are arrogant and a little scared to confess their feelings, which is why they play mind games and tricks to make the other accept their feeling of love. Thus, they get into a “battle of love,” which is quite an ironic element of the series.
The same thing happens with Asa in Chainsaw Man but in a literal way. Asa is quite lonely, and while she won’t admit it, she is desperately looking for love in her life. However, she also hosts the War Devil, Yoru, in her body, who makes things more difficult for Asa than they already are. She also develops feelings for Denji but is too scared to admit them.
Fans React to the Similarity Between Chainsaw Man and Kaguya-Sama: Love is War
@Chainsawpedia shared a post on X pointing out the fact that Yoru, being the War Devil, represents war. Asa, however, is quite unsocial and is longing for a companion as she searches for a boyfriend, making her the representation of love. And because Asa and Yoru share the same body, the main theme of the Academy Saga is “Love is War.”
Chainsaw Man fans instantly gathered and started comparing the two popular series to find similarities in their narrative themes.
While some fans were shocked to see the similarity between the two, some even pointed out that Chainsaw Man Part 2 is just a spin-off of Kaguya-sama: Love is War.
so it’s a kaguya spinoff

Although this might not be officially confirmed by Tatsuki Fujimoto, the love theme in Chainsaw Man Part 2 is quite similar to that of Kaguya-sama: Love is War. While Asa can’t confess her love to Denji because of Yoru, Kaguya, and Miyuki are tied by their arrogance.
