Victoria Justice has become quite a successful figure in the world of Hollywood. Her career started off with Victorious in the colorful world of Nickelodeon. While the network was one of the most successful in the 2000s and 2010s, its name has been brought up in more than a few negative ways this past year. One person who is usually tied into the conversation is Dan Schneider.
The television producer’s reputation has taken a dramatic dip ever since multiple former child actors for the network came out with concerning accusations. For the past year, the people he allegedly hurt have continued to speak up against him. The most recent addition seems to be Justice.
Victoria Justice Was Allegedly Also a Victim
Victoria Justice recently gave an interview with Marie Claire, where she talked about her former television producer, Dan Schneider. These comments come fresh after the documentary, Quiet On Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV showed Nickelodeon’s dark corners to the world.
Interestingly enough, the actress had her own story to add to the mix, revealing that she was also not spared from Schneider’s behavior.
“Something that was very evident in the documentary is that Dan had a very large ego,” Justice told. “And sometimes that ego clouded his better judgment and affected the way he treated people, and there were times I felt like I was being treated unfairly.”
While Justice did not hint at any s*xual misconduct directed at her, she did say that Schneider’s ego was often his downfall. When that got hurt or something did not go his way, he would start to act irrationally.
“I would say I’m definitely one of the people on that list.” She added.
The actress mentioned that he would switch up and mistreat those around him, and often she was at the receiving end of this.
Victoria Justice Feels Indebted
Victoria Justice then went on to touch on her relationship with Dan Schneider, labeling it complicated. She stated that while she was very close with him growing up, she did not condone his behavior or actions in any way. Despite this, she cannot help but feel indebted to him.
“I’m not condoning any of his behavior,” Justice said. “At the end of the day, my relationship with Dan is a very complex one: I met him when I was 12 years old, and he’s the person that gave me this big break. He completely changed my life.”
Justice mentioned that Schneider was the reason why she was as successful as she is today. Understanding all that he did to get her where she is, the actress could not help but have a degree of empathy.
“Most likely I wouldn’t be here where I am today if it weren’t for him, and for him seeing something in me,” she added. “For that I will always be grateful. After watching his apology, I think he recognizes that he did a lot of things wrong, and I think if he could step back into a time machine, he would do a lot of things differently.”
She then talked about the apology that Schneider put out after Quiet On Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV was released. Justice seems to be convinced that the producer understands what he did wrong.
She even took it a step further, stating that he regretted it so much that he would go back in time to change it if he could. It is safe to say that the entire situation is extremely conflicting for those who are involved.
Quiet On Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV is available for streaming on Prime Video.
