Macaulay Culkin, the actor who reached extraordinary heights of fame and success with his tremendous portrayal of the genius Kevin McCallister in his version of the Home Alone saga, actually shared a rather peculiar relationship with Michael Jackson in the eyes of the public. That being said, most fans may not know that this friendship actually started with a phone call.

As Culkin himself admitted it, the pair probably wouldn’t have shared the kind of close relationship they did had it not been for one “weird, random” call that the child actor received from the now-deceased King of Pop. And, although this may sound similar to the rumors surrounding Jackson’s alleged abuse of youngsters, that’s hardly the case, and Culkin stands as a witness to this claim.
Macaulay Culkin’s Friendship with Michael Jackson Started with a Call
Hollywood actor cum musician Macaulay Culkin and his close friend and the late fan-beloved King of Pop proved through their relationship that age is actually just a number — especially when it comes to personal heartfelt relationships like theirs.
Even if the beginning of this particular friendship began with a rather peculiar phone call.

During an appearance on Larry King Live in 2004, the My Girl actor shared the same while reflecting on his relationship with Jackson. He said (via Mj sasha concert on YouTube):
I first met him, he kind of called me randomly, like, out of the blue, he was just kind of like, ‘Hi, it’s Michael’, and I’m like, ‘Hey.’
But while this call came after Culkin’s success with Home Alone, he had actually met Jackson before as well, if only for a brief moment.
As he continued to share during the same interview:
This was after Home Alone. I’d actually met him once before when I was doing The Nutcracker at Lincoln Center, I was playing Fritz, and he came backstage one day and I actually met him very briefly. And he kind of recognised me because it was after I’d done Uncle Buck.

Coming back to share what happened when he received that phone call from Michael Jackson, Culkin then revealed:
And then he calls me up kind of out of the blue, it’s kind of just this weird, random thing. He was like, ‘Why don’t you come over to my house?’
Well, that was that, and because he wasn’t one from Jackson’s fandom, the Richie Rich actor likes to believe that was the reason why the two could connect on such an extraordinary level and become such close friends.
That said, this revelation did bring up questions much later on regarding the allegations surrounding the Smooth Criminal singer after his death about how he apparently abused youngsters, as per the documentary Leaving Neverland. However, according to Culkin, all of this is false.

During another interview with Esquire Magazine in 2020, Culkin presented his honest confession when asked to reflect on his thoughts on the controversial matter surrounding Jackson following the release of the documentary Leaving Neverland. He said:
Look. I’m gonna begin with the line—it’s not a line, it’s the truth: He never did anything to me. I never saw him do anything. And especially at this flash point in time, I’d have no reason to hold anything back.
Needless to say, this confession is more than enough to shut all of those rumors and reports that erupted because of that documentary.
As for their friendship: It seems like it was the masterpiece Home Alone movie that brought Macaulay Culkin to Michael Jackson’s notice and eventually led to their sweet friendship that budded spectacularly over the years.
